TOPIC’s AGENDA:

A GIA:  General Interest Article  based on how one solitary Event can change a Person’s Viewpoint no matter what Age s/he may be.

THE OPENER:  MAN’S OBSESSION WITH TIME (OR THE LACK OF IT)

As of 2012, for those of you born in 1952, you can be labeled as ‘a recent Graduate of The 50s.’ This means you successfully completed your 6TH Decade of Life (defined as the Blocks of Time running from the Ages of: Inception-9; 10-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; and 50-59).  Finalizing the Decade (that encompassed the years of 50 through 59), as a Member of the Class of (19)70, you may have awoken this year with an extremely unexplained nausea in your gut on the Eve of your Birth(day).  That was my reaction (gut reaction, at that) when August 8, 2012 tumbled into Thursday, August 9, 2012…officially heralding in my 60TH Birthday.  Never anticipating this malady, it was no way in which to kick-off my biggest Celebration yet.

History does not necessarily repeat itself.  Never before in Man’s History has such a monumental Proportion of the Population been documented or given the ability to grow older and live (so much) longer.  This is a totally new Concept for all of us to perceive.   Due to its looming influence on every known factor of Life, new laws, medicine and adjustments have to be introduced, invented and enacted.  There’s no blueprint.  We are in this phenomenon all together as one unit and it’s a new experience - the first of its kind, ever.  Sometimes, ‘Aging’ itself is not too ‘kind;’ therefore, a special mentality has to be enforced when becoming and dealing with The Elderly that Youth does not comprehend or understand in its entirety.

Like those rugged individuals crossing America in the Gold Rush Days 163 years ago, we are Pioneers at the forefront, cross-roads and threshold of something gigantic that will affect all sectors of Life from this pivotal point on(ward).  It’s exciting, yet depressing; a Challenge and an Adventure whereby  ‘being young at heart’ is easily replaced by aches, throbs, wrinkles, spotting, forgetting and wetting at the most inconvenient of times.  Yet, you’ll never be this young again as you are now nor will you be as old as you are tomorrow.

Keeping up with ‘The Times of your Life’ takes Time, Patience and Perseverance.   Taking note of what your immediate interests, needs and concerns are has been a hot topic (packed with meaning and relevance) in Senior Magazines where the(ir) primary emphasis features the ‘Mature Crowd.’  Those periodicals (by name) include (but are not limited to):

Putting the POP into POP Culture. Peter Max turns 75 today.

Chicago, IL USA:   A posting I just wrote for my favorite Artist, Mr. Peter Max.  What a treat to know and see Art as his - truly inspirational in all aspects:

Gosh, PETE:  Today U R 75:  Friday, October 19, 2012.  You know what that means:  When UR birthday lands on a Friday, U can celebrate the entire weekend long.

I remember when U  were 33.   I just turned 60 on August 9TH &  U’ve always been 15 years my senior. I just had 2  drop in 2 wish U the Happiest Birthday yet & 2 thank U 4 coloring our World as pretty as U have 4 prob. the last 60 of those years….if not longer!

Do U recall in 1994 when I (as ‘America’s Premier Eventologist’ via Insight Magazine of Wash, DC) created PAINT PRETTY DAY ©1994 in your honor?  I still get press on that Holidate!  Actually, now @  MY Age what I did was ‘celebrate 60 days B-4 my Birthday + 60 Days after.  After all, every Day is an event even if we weren’t born on that Day!  Hey, we all have a philosophy 2 live by – that’s mine!

Lots has changed since then – what’s really cool is 2 B able 2 stay in touch so much better with our ff:  favorite folks via email, the Internet, FB, Twitter & all those other social networks w/o having 2 Q (ie: cue) up @ the Post Office or spend a cent!

One of my favorite Things that I do is 2 tell my friends who R having Birthdays, the following according 2 their latest & greatest birthday and that is in your p-ART-icular case since U R 75 years young today that:

You have blinked this many times:  373,950,428

You have breathed this many times: 451,496,073

You have eaten this many meals:  83,000 (calories not configured into this figure)

You have slept this many hours:  225,817

You have slept this many days:  9409 **

What irks me now (that I am 60) is that we sleep about 1/3 of our lives away.  Oh, yes, I know we need the R&R:  REST & RELAXATION, but just think of all the more paintings U could do + HOLIDATES I could create, if sleeping was not a necessity!

And on that note, I wish U the HAPPIEST of BIRTHDAYS, Mr. Max and ‘paint pretty.’  The best is yet to come!

ASK: Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith on: What it takes to be a Writer.

The following was sent to a major  Writer's Group here in the USA on the East Coast in order to enlighten them about problems we Writers can encounter.  Several good pointers and recommendations are listed that you should be apprised:

RE:  What it takes to be a Writer

Dear  ___:       What I find amusing is the degree of Notoriety and KNOW-toriety writers/authors/creatifs can achieve in their lifetime for the Works they produce.  Notice, I did not use the word:  PUBLISH.  Once a production is complete (or sort of done), it can take on a life of its own.   It can take-off and end up in places never dreamt.  Such is and was the case of my Literary Genre called:

EVENTOLOGY
THE ART EVENT-MAKING

ADRiENNE SiOUX KOOPERSMiTH’s CAMPAIGNS FOR HUMANITY ©1990

that I launched on Wednesday, July 25, 1990 at 9:45 PM CST.  Although I also head my own PRAM: Public Relations – Advertising – Marketing Biz and self- publicize my Works, what I do mind terribly is when people (so-called journalists and reporters) think they can put WORDS into my Mouth.

HOW THIS CONCLUSION WAS ARRIVED UPON:  It’s a very good idea to google your name to see where your name is landing. I do this on a semi-regular basis.  This allows me to update my Media List of who noticed and acknowledged my Writings that appear frequently on my blogs and throughout my social networks.  It allows me to then pen a proper thank you note to them if the article is complimentary and/or correct them if they are wrong.

Some of the grandest periodicals (magazines + newspapers) and TV/Radio stations on the planet fall liable to following this sour/dour practice.  Furthermore, if it happens to me, it probably is happening to other writers/authors at all levels of productivity/publishing.  Now is the time to expose it for the greater good!  Editors and Publishers have a high standing to maintain.  If they allow lies and fallacies to surface, they should be reprimanded and outright fired for on-the-job negligence.  Fact-checking is instrumental in today’s literary scene as it is in all others.

ON A LIGHTER AND MORE BOASTFUL SIDE:  I had to laugh and admit:  This Stream of Media Coverage that I have received since 1990 was all done without having one book published by a leading book publisher. In those days, that technique was called:  GUERRILLA MARKETING.   The topics I created were that popular and spectacular and they still are.  They hit a vein in people. People reacted.  In my Collection of Works/Words, approximately 10 prototypes of Books (Manuscripts) are ready to go into the next step of production with 40  patiently waiting in ‘the wings.’  Cited as:

America’s Premier Eventologist’

by Gene Koprowski of Insight Magazine in Washington, DC in August 1997

&

The Premier Eventologist in The History of The World

by Eric Zorn of The Chicago Tribune in Chicago in January, 2001

I have 1,900 HOLIDATES TO CELEBRATE that fall into 34 specific Categories.  Each could/should be a mini-Book or several Encyclopedias. Throughout the last two decades, many have already been made into Greeting Cards.

HOWEVER:  You have to admit, this is highly problematic not only for the Creatif but for the Reader, Subscriber, Scholar and/or Student who is reading material that is misrepresented.  Why these reporters and journalists report on a story without CONSULTING with the Creator FIRST AND FOREMOST is beyond me. Why these reporters and journalists report on a story without listing my Name as CREATOR is more than insulting, it is criminal.  They can easily email, FB or tweet the writer/author.  They can find their phone number in a matter of seconds.  There is no excuse for their lameness.

IN MY PARTICULAR CASE THE LAST 22 YEARS:  No literary agent or publisher ever came forth when an article was published, i.e.:  when this slew of these articles (listed below) were current.  However, in 1995, I did contact some Literary Agents and have a stack of Testimonials as to the uniqueness of these Writings.  This is when it was much easier to get ‘through’ and an answer would be forthcoming.  Gone are ‘those days.’

THE INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED MEDIA

THAT HAS SPOTLIGHTED MY WRITINGS / CONCEPTS / PHILOSOPHIES

 1990 - Present

As a Creative Writer since July 25, 1990, Interviews about me as a noted Writer, Trendsetter and ‘Someone to Watch’ appeared in:

USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Insight Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Sun-Times, Time Magazine,  ESPN: The Magazine; Fast Company, Redbook, More Magazine, Woman’s World, Sports Illustrated For Kids, Village Voice, Nickelodeon, The Times Picayune, The Gainesville Sun, The Springfield News-Leader, Dave Egger’s Might Magazine, The Milwaukee-Journal-Sentinel, The Detroit Free Press, The Daily Herald, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, The Advocate/Greenwich Time, The San Antonio Express, The Dallas Morning News, Skyline, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Home Cooking, Cooking Light, Chase’s Calendar of Events, The Daily Northwestern, Popular Photography and Imaging, Shutterbug, Kennedy’s Confection (London, England), Eric Cohen Books (Israel) and an Estonian Newspaper as well as an endless Assortment of Websites, Blogs, Facebook Postings, ‘Tweets’ on  Twitter and employing other popular Social Networks. Besides being the Guest on over 3,000 Radio Interviews (including The Voice of America since 1990), ABC, NBC, CBS & MSNBC Television Networks have also featured me for my Creation of these EVENTOLOGICAL Works.

LET THIS SERVE AS A WARNING:  Now, the saddest point to make is that the 90% of my Works are on floppy disks (the variety we used from 1994 to circa 2009), meaning they are outdated and obsolete when it comes to reproducing the Material.  However, I do have Backup in the form of Paper Copies, because when you open your eyes up and admit it, we will never be a thoroughly paperless society.  And, yes, I have a booklet on that Topic of going Paperless as well.

Luckily, my movie script called iN THE COMPANY OF ANTS ©2009 (that beat out 3,164 other contenders and placed in Scriptapalooza’s International Screenplay Competition located in Hollywood, California) is on a flash drive and backed up.  It is part and parcel of my 7-part book and movie script collection called:

SKiN: SACRED KINSHP iN NATURE™

HOW 10 BELOVED PLUSH TOYS REDEFINE RACE ©2009

that deals with the highly pertinent topics of:

- Erasing Racism;

- Dissolving the Mixed Signals and Ironies we receive every Day; and

- Getting to the Heart of what really matters

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A WRITER:

There are a Plethora of Topics that stem from Writing ‘right’ and what happens via the Usage and Proliferation of High Technology.  When things go ‘write’ compared to when things go ‘wrong,’ Writing is never an easy task. These Topics should be covered in every  Writing Class, Case and Seminar ever hosted. These are very important topics that people (who want to be a WRITER/AUTHOR) must know about before they start pursuing this Art, Craft and Pastime.  They need to know:

Can we creatifs keep up with it?

What if a reporter misrepresents your works?

What if you stumble upon someone on the web plagiarizing your words and cashing in on those?

What happens when you win a contest and decide to switch gears in order to ‘write’ for the masses?

Why don’t journalists give credit where it’s due?

The list is certainly endless.   Shall I go on and on?  I’ve been known to!

Therefore, if you are hosting a panel in your upcoming _____Annual Convention and/or Book Fest or Fair and would like for me to speak as a panelist, let me know.   I find this Body of Topics concerning ‘Writer’s Rights’ (we could call it) to be of utmost importance and extremely interesting.   ‘Staying ahead’ of the Writing Curve is difficult on its own these days in so many ways.  This can encompass trying to get published in a publication. Then, it is broken down into IF it is your article or another writer who is writing about you.   Then, did they interview you or just take their findings from material found on the web?  What if you are not given the credit you deserve? This changes the entire Course of Literature by dispelling the Accuracy of that Article. And, let us not forget:
When something is placed in Cyberspace, it stays there forever.
These act(ions) borders on criminal – on Copyright Infringement of Intellectual Property.  The world would be pretty boring if there were no Intellectuals producing the Property we so enjoy today.   Two acts of Copyright Infringement happened to me earlier this year when my copyrighted, 18 year old material was placed on NBC TV for 29 days’ worth of commercials and I didn’t receive a single dime.  Yes, this, too, is slated as a book because its story needs to be told to protect the innocent.

So many Topics deal with Writing.  We’ll never get bored, will we!

In closing, thank you, ______, so much for letting me tell you about a subject matter that matters and affects us all each day.  Please call-on-me if you need an Article or Panelist for any of your creative endeavors.  I’d be happy to participate.

Sincerely,

Getting on the Cover of Time Magazine as Person of The Year. The Quest is on.

THE SKOOP FROM KOOP(ersmith):

On Sunday, October 14, 2012, by doing a Google Search of my name, I discovered that Brad R. Tuttle featured one of my 1,900 HOLIDATES in his 'Smart Spending' Column. I was flattered and happy both. However, I felt badly that I did not find out sooner in order to thank him for that write-up. Now, after the initial excitement has worn off, I'm now wondering how I can become TIME's Person of The Year. Somebody has to be IT. After all, our world revolves around EVENTS -- what I call HOLIDATES and I've created, produced and promoted - ie: launched -- 1900 of them since July 25, 1990. The following is a Facebook posting I've shot out to my friends. Friends and friends of friends know things. Lending more HOLIDATES to our Pop Culture Scene is something that pleases many. For that reason, I'm hoping TIME Magazine will choose me in order to carry on my goodwill and Humanitarian Campaign (22 years enforce) called:

EVENTOLOGY

The Art of Event-Making

FACEBOOK POSTING OF: Monday, October 15, 2012 - 10:35 AM CST

OK, now after I've been featured in Time.com (circa June of 2011) what I have to find out about is how to get on the Cover of TIME Magazine as their PoTY: Person of The Year. I'm sure they've never featured an Eventologist before. And, since they are involved with the publishing of events, mine just might be what they are looking for. After all, with all the atrocities that are happening here on our planet, it's nice to be able to escape and do/experience/partake in EVENTS - my HOLIDATES - all 1900 of them that lend towards an experience that you've never had before. Maybe a google search will help me out here...as it's getting awfully close to the end of the year...according to my calendar here - it is the Ides of October. Let's see what can be found!

Koopersmith’s National Splurge Day ©1994 scores TIME.com Article for the Time of its Life. Expose found at: http://tinyurl.com/8usx8du

ASK ON WHAT I MEAN TO SAY: I don’ mean to appear rude, as my Mother did not raise me to be that way, but sometimes, it’s just plain hard to keep up with it all. Modern Technology has made the times easier on us, but with the amount of information coming from every angle, getting to it is difficult.

And that’s the point of this letter. It’s nice to get a piece in TIME, that I have been reading since I first learned to pick up a magazine or so it seems.

And like the next Creatif, I love to see my name in print. With that thought in mind, I sometimes will google my Name (yes, all of it) to see what was popular that I wrote and determine how it went over with folks that I may never know. In a way you know them. In other ways, you don’t but you do wonder how and what made other writers pen an article on you, especially if you’re a writer attempting to create a new Literary Genre which I have been doing the last 22 years.

However, with Facebook and Twitter (for starters here), you can connect much better than ever before.

KE THE FOLLOWING CASE: I did the ASK search earlier this afternoon and found out that Brad Tuttle wrote a piece on my National Splurge Day ©1994 back on June 17, 2011. That was well over a year ago and I just found out about it today. I feel gosh-awful embarrassed as I never sent him a thank you note. After all, with 1900 HOLIDATES TO CELEBRATE on my Roster, I am also the Creator of International Thank You Days ©1994 and I should know better. Didn’t we all learn that for every ‘please’ there is a ‘thank you?’ This particular Holidate salutes my kindergarten teach, Miss Lucille Fritz back in 1957.

Brad writes well, even if he wasn’t writing about my Holidate. The story’s title is called:

As If You Need an Excuse to Splurge …

and this story is under TIME’s Money Segment called SMART SPENDING that further gives me (as a writer and person of credence) the ability to show people how to have fun even in troubling and pressing economic times which is part of Eventology’s Premise.

And, Mr. Tuttle is also on Twitter at @bradrtuttle. Therefore, with this Posting, I am going to make sure that I find him and although it’s quite a spell later and lots of HOLIDATES have come and gone between then and now, his attention to my writing (i.e.: HOLIDATE) was indeed appreciated. And who knows, we may become friends here on Facebook as well. Only TIME will tell – pun intended. Now that certainly is yet a(nother) Story that is yet to unfold.

Check out Brad’s Rendition of my National Splurge Day ©1994 at:

And, THANK YOU, Brad!

Undoubtedly, amongst the most creative and personalized Gift,

GORF CUSTOMIZED HOLIDATES

assure all your Days begin with a Smile from THE GRiN REAPER himself, as he is called and popularly known by.   Although this would be an ideal Gift for a Birthday, there are countless other EVENTS spanning the Weeks of our Lives where an ‘impromptu’ but personalized Gift (as this) is sure to brighten a Person’s Day.  With the Holiday Season quickly coming up, beginning with Halloween (known as GORF-O-WEEN in my Circle) then Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Years, this personalized Gift will strike a happy chord.

As my Friend, Jeff calls the Greeting:  “It’s like having a Star named after you.”  He’s exactly ‘write’ but it’s a lot closer to home where the Heart is.

And, I should explain to you what a HOLIDATE is: Created from the Two (2) Words:

HOLIDAY+ DATE = HOLIDATE

A HOLIDATE is defined as Goodwill, Humanitarian, Altruistic, Educational, Recreational, Spiritual, FUN-Time and/or FUN-Type EVENT; therefore, EVENTOLOGY was born back on Wednesday, July 25, 1990 at 9:45 PM, when I formally launched this new Literary Genre called:

EVENTOLOGY

THE ART OF EVENT-MAKING

ADRIENNE SIOUX KOOPERSMITH’s CAMPAIGNS FOR HUMANITY ©1990

Today there are 1,900 HOLIDATES (falling into 34 precise Categories) and Volumes penned.  Presently, I am extending the HOLIDATE Phenomenon to you via this one-page Greeting Card featuring:  GORF, nicknamed ‘THE GRiN REAPER’ who lives in CHICAGORF, Illinois USA and is hailed as ‘CHICAGO’S FIRST GREEN MASCOT.’  These Greetings are an Off-Shoot of my Creative Writings that fully utilize EVENTOLOGY.

More Detail about this unusual Story is found at the above URLS that explain this 22 year old Literary Phenomenon and Form(at).
