Chicago, IL USA: As fortunate as I am in finding Interesting People who are always able to get over whatever problem and affliction is handed to them and we don't mean THE RICH who were born with a silver platter on their high chairs and are too busy shopping and/or upstaging themselves with their latest addiction-of-choice, this AM, I received a FB note from:
RON RON
aka: (Ron Reid, Jr)
who is in Tokyo... and has been reporting about the Brave and Persevering Japanese People who have had their lives 'upset' (to say the least) since the Tsunami & Earthquake hit on March 11. RON RON is one of those rare and interestig People you enjoy hearing from...even if he is experiencing and sharing something with us that seems to brutal and hard to understand and take-in and take-on.
As you may remember
RON RON has been filming the Japanese Event (with much of the Distribution going to CNN). His documentation is something none of us would have access to if it was not for him.
However, now well into its 6th week as the air clears and the sediment settles, most of all in the following FB Note, RON reveals what this Catastophe means to not only his Fellow Countrymen, but to himself as a 'Creative Soul & Spirit' in a world that is totally caught up in its own whirlwinds.
As I have been doing, I am posting his Statement so others can see. Film Clippage of RON RON's endeavors are available - as well as interviews by FB-ing him at RON RON. I think U'll be totally awed @ what he has to say. Yes, We all know it's your MINDSET that makes you the person you are or which you become, but this time, hopefully more folks will 'take note' and notice what's best for them and all of us, who swirl and twirl around the sun on this granite planet of ours that we SHARE.
RON RON's posting follows:

hi adrienne,
REBUILDING JAPAN STARTS WITH OURSELVES
You seem to hit the big dilemma that is on a few people minds. With this consumer-orientated and ADD media hungry how long would it be for people to forget the people there?
The area is ravaged in a different way then the tornadoes in the mid-west the same results; devastation on the lives of those affected.
That is why there has been a consorted effort to plan out the long-term help and look at where the gov't won't be available and start planning in those directions.
So, in meetings of groups heading toward the northeast of japan. most leaders are thinking, "how can we help these people in the long run?"
Well, enter lecturer Pavel from the Russian nuclear accident that is celebrating it's anniversary and he brings with him ideas from farming, what they have learned. and also experience of social planning. Things like youth organized to look after elderly people who are not related to them. this was modeled off the Ukraine model that worked with NGO's to work where the gov't can't reach.
But the situation is one without a blue print. so, a lot of hope and a lot of cooperation are needed.
MINDSET IN JAPAN
Meanwhile, there is a consciousness that things will never be the same but with a hopeful attitude things don't need to be. New jobs are opening and where many foreigners left new jobs are available to those who stayed.
It is indeed a brave new world for those in the mid-west to rebuild their lives. some will start again and some others will move to new areas with new challenges. but the excitement of building something is exciting.
Take myself for example, I am in the midst of that right now. I am re-examining my job prospects. What skills do i have? I have
Can I contact old contacts again? How about old jobs? Even jobs
I haven't tried, do I dare try in fields I was shy about? The answer now is a resounding yes!!
If I stick to my new hopes of embracing my old fears; recontacted my network, checked in with Linkedin and generated buzz for my scripts and started using my situation to generate new story ideas.
And financially, started living long-term with curbing my spending
and cutting back until I have a solid paycheck coming in.
Fear has turned into hope!! This hope is getting a boost with volunteer efforts with a mission team up North with no job prospects back home. This hope has me perform back on stage for five shows that ended last Sunday. And this new hope has a created a writer and director who is determined to get his films and ideas on TV and back at the movie theaters yet again! I am not done yet from the Earthquake or Tsunami!!
ron reid jr in Tokyo
===========================
ASK's POSTSCRIPT: To be gentler, I suppose I used the word "UPSET" in my opening paragraph as I did not want to use the word: DESTROYED - it just seemed too brutal and was not reflective of a Strong People who will rebuild and go on with Life, a changed Life (at that), but then, that's what Life is all about.

Let's NOT forget Japan: April 26, 2011 Update.
Chicago, IL USA:
There's never a time when we modern type folks do not get bombarded with emails. I found this one - very important FB note from Photographer/Humanitarian RON RON who is documenting the disaster that took place in Japan earlier this season. It has very important points you should know about- beside sthe fact that, we should NOT forget the people there.
It follows:
it is a great time that i see in japan. can a country be revitalized from this? my answer is yes.
the human heart and spirit can do amazing things.
It is up to people to step in and help.
my friends have told me i cant go up to those areas. they know i would like to move debris or help find people but i cant get access and there are over 100,000 people doing this with training.
i am already trying to think in the future.
what is needed for spiritual recovery?
what and who will help the japanese help each other.
GREAT MODEL TO FOLLOW
i learned from an expert, i filmed in a doc called 614-goeff ryan a spiritual rescue expert.
and he gave me advice that people have to help themselves and others shouldn't always tell them how to recover and fly in. he believed in trying to help people by living in the area. and he has been a great model for me.
the japanese are survivors.
MENTALITY
the idea here is to keep people working and keep their minds off any panicky ideas.
LEAVING
lots of people are leaving because of what the media has shown: Tsunami water destroying homes but the chance of radioactivity coming from the Fukushima plant was risking people's health.
BRITISH report
a relief that this independent probe by specialist in reactors asked what the chances of radiation. they concluded it was minimal. but not harmful. this is great news.
HELP
It is coming in from the UK in bulk shipments to the Iwate
area (an area damaged in the Tsunami). and yesterday and today those from pakistan were serving hot food to people. truly, a story of cooperation.
as i am writing, i am planning to go out and get a pulse of what is going on. i am not an CNN correspondent but I will do what i can, my way.
thanks adrienne,
please ask people to pray for japan.
i found comfort in this verse and have been sending it to people.

How Many Tweets will the Royal Wedding create? Let's hold a CONTEST!
Chicago, IL USA:
How many TWEETS will be issued during the Royal Wedding - here's a contest that will make the Execs @ TWITTER shine in the eyes of the world moreso than they do now. After all, they are showing the world HOW to be brief.
By all means do check the Theory out now:
PREMISE: Duzent a sense of accomplishment ALWAYS feel great...I take it 'all the madness' coming up this week will encircle The Royals Wedding of Kate & William.
In all this sheer mad and gladness, being the strategizing gal that I am, I wonder how many tweets everyone will generate on their behalf.
Twitter should run a contest for the person who guesses closest to the right # of Tweets going out for that day - with a portion of the Monies going towards the Japanese Relief Campaign/Fund since their tragedy prevents any travel and wedded fun or bliss. A
As a matter of fact, I posted this thought on their FB Tweet page. After all, it's an event of a lifetime that can become altruistic in nature. Wm & Kate: Let the Tweeting begin.
Posted on my FB Account & Twitter's Product/Service FB Account & Koopersmithin.

Koopersmith's SKiN: Sacred Kinship in Nature ©2009 goes viral...
Chicago, IL USA:
Better post this while it's new, otherwise come tomoro this will be OLD news and KODAK waits 4 no 1, not even their Board of Directors. That's just the way technology goes - ie: the way of the Pony Express, even with lots of horsepower behind a project, there's always new High Tech to take over and make IT into history. Lucikly, we learn from our past if we pay attention and study it. Therefore, there's never a need for a boring day to come into play, if you fill it with learning new things, which is the only way to keep up with the newest advancements. Bearing this in mind...

However, because my relevant and timely THEMES deal with:
Eliminating Racism
Dispelling Mixed Signals &
Getting to the Heart of what really matters
these topics (especially the first) are not going away any time too soon. That phrase is called EVERGREEN that focuses on 'lasting power' - a topic that should always be immortalized for present and future generations to behold.
I am presently re-drafting, editing and lengthening the Scriptapalooza Quarterfinalist Winner of their International Screenplay Competition of 2010, iN THE COMPANY OF ANTS ©2009 from a 1 book/movie project into 3.

Taking Park City documents the Power of Creative Artistry...
...from both sides of the Camera.
TAKING PARK CITY, the 30-minute action -packed documentary that follows 2 Columbia College Chicago Students, Tanya & Norman to SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL (founded by Robert Redford)in January of 2011 is now being seen on WTTW - Channel 11 PBS during the following time slots:
For those of you setting your DVR for "Taking Park City", be sure to set it for a full hour. TPC will be half an hour followed by a presentation of "Beast" and "Marylin's Dress."
WTTW11 Thu, 04/21/2011 @ 9pm-10pm
WTTW Prime Fri, 04/22/2011 @ 3pm-4pm
WTTW11 Sat, 04/23/2011
Not only were Norman's & Tanya's films featured but the entire operation of sending an entire team to Park City to film the event (in and of itself) showed the precision, talent and art needed to make an impression in the movie industry. As a major US school offering film/development and photography to students, TAKING PARK CITY is slated to be(come) an annual feature of the Film Department at Columbia College Chicago. All students interested in 'going Hollywood' need not leave 'Sweet Home Chicago,' as their opportunities are as big here as on either coast, namely NYC & LA.
For timely updates, check out FACEBOOK/Taking Park City. Dimitri Moore is Producer of this 3-year production. As a upcoming May, 2011 graduate, Dimitri plans on opening his own production company and remaining in Chicago.
You gotta love film...

Chicago, IL USA
After the earthquake/tsunami and power plant problem in Japan, I have been receiving notes from RON-RON. The following is his latest missive. Videos that he has taken of what is happening in Japan are posted online. His FB moniker is RON RON for those who are interested in helping.
"hi adrienne, just finished a trailer from a trip up north, packed another truck with the team at tbc. and spent the day before chopping food. so, we can cook live and give people hot meals. the nuclear radiation is of concern. but also looking for longer term solutions are underway. but every little bit helps."

Focus Night @ The Movies at Highland Park High School. Where Camera/Lights/Action + Talent meet.
Linda Frothingham of ChicagoHollywood.com & I attended Debut of FOCUS NIGHT AT THE MOVIES at the Highland Park High School Auditorium in HP, Illinois (where many movies have been scored the last 30 years). Hosted by Burt Chaikin & Jack Shulruff with Joe Bucolo as Faculty Coordinator, 19 film clips were aired via the assistance of the Fine Arts Department.
Alan Loeb (himself – “the L.A. Times called Loeb "Screenwriting's equivalent of the 'It Boy'") flew in for the occasion and encouraged what the students called: ‘Imagine The Possibilities.’ Alan had previously attended HPHS – now reappearing there as ‘An Honorary Alum.’ Because of his work load, he could not appear there – live and on-stage, but that was all taken care of. Via the wonders of ‘taping’ before-hand, well-known Producer/Director, Shawn Levy gave the future filmmakers more words of encouragement to pursue your passions with an added treat and endorsement made by Hugh Jackman, who is always looking for his next role. The School’s Symphony Orchestra with Stephen Hobson (as Director) played selections of major motion pictures as the crowd was seated.
Jimmy Fishbein, the Owner of Lake Shore Photography, Inc. set up his studio in the lobby as people were beginning to enter the Auditorium for the Presentation. He has been serving Chicago and the surrounding suburbs for over a decade now. For free, he generously took the photos of 100s of attendees...for a feel of what it is like to be 'on the red carpet'- making it and immortalizing it as a most memorable experience. Those photos will be online in several days at www.LshorePhoto.com.
It was really a spectacular evening as nearly 1000 people (per my estimates) attended the event. Although I enjoyed and found something entertaining ‘in all the films,’ my favorite was called AMONG THE STARS, created by Rachel Sacks, Burton Chaikin & Jacob Humerick and starring Alex Rush & Jack Shulruff. If a film moves you to tears, you know it has something going for it and a real (ie: ‘reel’) message to offer. Thank goodness for the invention of the Kleenex. More should be sold at movie concessions if you ‘ask’ me.
And yes, these FOCUS NIGHT AT THE MOVIES will become Regular Events in the years ahead at Highland Park High…again connecting Chicago to Hollywood.

Santa may be coming to town in December, but Chicago Screenwriters anticipate JULIE GRAY here on April 10TH!
CALLING ALL SCREENWRITERS NEAR & AROUND CHICAGO:
Straight from the eMedia Release of Linda Frothingham of Frothingham Communications, I quote:
“Work on the character, especially your Main Character, takes a lot of time. Julie Gray knows that most writers fall in love with their MC and don’t push the MC’s flaws or obstacles. Her advice is to not fall in love with your MC in the beginning, but “fall in love with who your MC will become, and make your MC earn it.” The beginning of the journey you take your audience on is your MC’s Flaw. This leads to her/his Want, leading to Need, leading to Stakes. The business end of the craft of screenwriting is worked on for the entire second day. Does your pitch grab a producer’s attention? Is your premise line universal and individual? Is your idea commercial? Yes, it’s horrible to take off your writer’s hat and put on your business hat, but it’s called the Movie Business for a reason. Julie says, “Movies are an emotional delivery system”, which means you have to have the content you want combined with the high-concept script the producer wants.”
My! Doesn’t that sound interesting! You being commercial? What’s better than that? Thrill your Significant Other. Make ‘The Parents’ proud. Get the rent paid on time for a change. And lucky for you screenwriters (reading this text) who want to improve their odds of making it into the Big Time, JULIE GRAY will be in Chicago teaching a Workshop entitled:

COUNTDOWN TO 60: The New Way to Approach Immortality by ASK: Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith
Chicago, IL USA
Doing the math, we see that there are 38 more weeks left in 2011 + 52 week in 2011 equating to only 90 more weeks till: THE BIG EVENT.
As of today, Wednesday, April 6, 2011 there R 90 more Weeks till I turn 60. It’s all Part & Parcel of my COUNTDOWN TO 60® that is my personal way of trying to get more done still that I usually would @ any other time in my (so-called) Life. As the Creator of AFSEE: Advocates For Senior Equality & Enrichment ®, a group I started on February 18, 2002 – just about 6 months shy of my 50TH, I find that writing about AGING is quite therapeutic because once the piece/text is done, U know U R not as young as U used 2 B! Many of us BabyBoomers R aging – if we do it gracefully, that alone will be left 2 each of us as Individuals. Press on!

What Hollywood Animators & Movie Studios are looking for: TOYS THAT ROCK.
Chicago, IL USA
When writing Animation if it is for animals, should the script be any different than if you are writing for human characters? Also, with all the animated flicks coming out like Rango, Hop, Rio, etc., is Hollywood looking for the next BIG HIT that deals with cute cuddly Animals - if so that is me!
I have 2 pertinent Questions about this TOPIC as there are others who also use TOYS and ANIMATION in their screenwrites. Those 2 queries are:
#1: When writing Animation (if it is for animals), should the script be any different than if you are writing for human characters?
#2: With the influx and increase in the animated flicks coming out (and that have already appeared) like Toy Story 1-3, Rango, Hop, Despicable Me, Rio, etc., is Hollywood (circa 2011) looking for the next BIG ANIMATED HIT that deals with cute cuddly Animals/TOYS? With TOY Story 3 winning an Oscar, it seems to be ‘the trend’ from what I can see as an outsider outside ‘the realm and reelm’ of Hollywood dynamics.
MY THINKING HERE EXPLAINED:
I have an ongoing 7-part Series (book and movie extravaganza) that spotlight some of the dreamiest and most darling TOYS taken from my very own TOY BOX. One of the Scripts has already beat out 3,164 others in a Hollywood Intl Screenwriting Competition in 2010; therefore, I know it has ‘something’ going for it.
Currently, I am wondering about the best way to get IT walked into Steven Spielberg's, John Lasseter's, Tim Burton's and/or Gore Verbinski's studios. One look @ my ‘Family’ and they'd be a SHOE-in even if I didn't have the last 3 Scripts written.
Plus, the topics are instrumental today’s issues, the leading subject deals with eliminating RACISM. And what is strange about the copy/text is that once you read the 4/7 that are already written, you will NOT have a bigoted bone left in your body. This is a Message we must get ‘out there.’

Dedicate a day to learning specific tools and exercises to help you create characters that undergo truly satisfying metamorphoses!
• Learn how not to fall in love with your character on page one, but rather, the new, improved self they will become by the time you type FADE OUT.
• Learn how to move your main character from an old way of being to a new one through a plot that unfolds because of your main character’s active flaws and vulnerabilities.
• Learn an exercise that demonstrates that looking inward at your own wants, desires and fears gives you permission to be much more honest (and dramatic) about those of your main character.
• Learn new tricks to contextualize and ground great dialogue. And much, much more in this truly satisfying and fun all day workshop with Julie Gray!
