Chicago, IL USA: It's safe to say that in 2 days, I'll be 57 years old according to the Calendar. I definitely do not feel it; nor look it. As the Founder of:
AFSEE: Advocates For Senior Equailty & Enrichment (C)2002
in 2004, an article was written about me and my healthy techniques for longevity in a Senior(ita's) Magazine from Las Vegas. I was extremely proud of this piece as it was entitled:
54 is the New 34...
Knocking 20 years off was a nice gesture on Margaret's Part, considering I didn't even have to buy any advertising from her. But as we all know, AGING is only a number; Maturity (on the other hand) is something many of us do not develop. Just look around as there are many who haven't reached that Peak yet in Life's Story.
56 was a very good year. In October I became one of the Top 10 Selectees for the Chicago Portion of
SHE's GOT THE LOOK - that aired in June/July (of this year). It was a real ego boost considering they were looking for MODELS who were over 35; and at 56, I was one of the more 'mature' (can we say) of the Stock who were waiting in those Cattle Lines.
Later, in November, I created FAUX FUR FRIDAYS (C)2008 that I launched in January of 2009 for the entire year that, of course, happens on Fridays. It's not only a time to wear Animal Prints - NOT Animal Hides -- but to appreciate what Design has contributed to our state of living and to care for the Planet and the other Animals we share it with.
Which brings me to my Biggest and Loftiest CHALLENGE of my 56th Year:
The Writing and Composition of:
SKiN: How 10 Beloved Plush Toys Redefine RACE (C)2009
that is now fully copyrighted and on its way to 'making the rounds.' Not only would it make for a glorious BOOK that helps to dispel RACISM (that is the hottest topic of any Decade), but it will also be transformed into a Movie and shopped around to Hollywood Producers. The Message it relays is mandatory to get by in Today's World. I would not be surprised if it become as Great as The Wizard of Oz, The Phantom Tollbooth and Forrest Gump as I am touting it as:
The Alice In Wonderland of the 21ST Century.
As we all know, Tim Burton is producing ALICE IN WONDERLAND starring Johnny Depp -- with a release date of March 10, 2010. This may be the follow-up to his Artistry.
Yes, this year has been a Creative and Healthy Adventure; filled with Joys, lots of Toil, but the Product is one that affects us all...and I still have 2 more Days in which to take advantage of all that 56 has to hold for me!
Keeping an Optimistic Outlook is important in troubled times and when things get perplex or complicated. After all, we should all take IT one moment at a time (if we must slow down that much). Then, you too can have HAPPY DAYS like mine.
