Once
Upon A Time (a relatively short Time ago), in 2004, I was the featured Interviewee
in a ¾ page Article called:

in a Las
Vegas Senior (and Seniorita) Magazine. Extremely proud of this Coverage and by being
the Founder of AFSEE: Advocates For Senior Equality &
Enrichment ©2002, exploring this ‘Ageless’ Topic provided an Opportunity
for me to express my Maverick Mindset of what Forces it takes to be a bona fide
BabyBoomer in a New Millennium where Shifts and Turns meet the Blunt Realities
of Aches and Pains. I shared a List of
Enlightening One-Liners of relatively great Importance and a Photo I was
especially Fond (of) taken by John
Abeyta, a top Model/Beauty Photographer located in Los Angeles.
Interestingly enough, that Photo (taken on October 17, 1989 when I was 37) was lightly air-brushed that now at
62 is preponderously funny because (at that time), I was wrinkle-free;
acne-free and no sun-blotching prevailed.
Yet, that was part of this Photographer’s Job, living and working in Hollywood, where Youth
(1-19) is hailed.
LESS I
DIGRESS: But it must be understood that the Older a
Person gets, there are many more chilling and thrilling Stories to tell that
add to th(os)e Pages of our Lives, creating both historical and hysterical
Chapters, unique to us all.
CONTINUING:
AFSEE had been founded as a
Literary Forum in February of 2002 when I found that my favorite Chicago-based Magazine
no longer wanted to cater to Readers who were over 49. A follower of this Publication since 25, I
was soon to be 50 in 6 months. Horrified, I was infuriated! If Twitter existed in 2002, this Clause would
have been #hashtagged to read as:
#I_was_infuriated.
And, of course, We do know that Infuriation
registers a ‘Good Thing’ as it spurs Innovators on to Activities that can produce a well-needed Change.
Now, at 62 (nearly 62.5 as of Monday, February
9, 2015), I’ve declared that those who are 62
are merely 31 for the 31st Time. Should Baskin-Robbins
with their 31 Flavors of Ice Cream hire me to promote their Varieties? Let’s
ASK them…
That hilarious Clause always arouses a Laugh or
Smile when I proudly tell Folks my Age.
Now, for the Nevada Article to be updated, its Math would have to be re-calculated
(in all Fairness) to:
62 is the
New 42.
Personally,
that can still be tweaked to: 62 is the New 32. After all, 1985 was here 30 years
ago and most of us Boomers still
remember the Lyrics to our favorite Songs as well as what We wore to Prom and
Homecoming, when Fashion Flair was first
and foremost.
What comes from the ASKian Vault to mind next is the
Revolutionary and somewhat revolting Phrase:
Don’t
trust anyone over 30.
This Ideology was popular during my Teen Years
being born a Leo on Saturday, August 9, 1952.
Now, totally laugh-worthy, it reads as a cynical comment to disconnect,
instead of connect or reconnect with Others, wherever they may be and whatever
and regardless of (their) Age. However, like
Racial Profiling by just looking at a Person who is encountered, guessing at a
Person’s Age is what We automatically do. Certain Survival Instincts kick in when Danger
presents itself. Age may only be a Number,
but ‘Getting Old’ continues to get a Bad Rap, until now.

work. Where what We say/do/feel/act upon

WHO We have become Today. That’s the most glamorous Aspect that Age
offers. The (petty) Jealousies – The
Evil Eyes – the Experimentation of Youth are ironed out and dealt with as We
mature. Transparency links us together
whereby the Superficialities of non-important Things just do not count on our
Top Ten Lists (anymore).”

Time lies in the Words you use, instilled by the
Values you convey; in the Legacy you’ve created through the Times of your Life.
Experiences culled from ‘The Afore Decades’
(defined as Life before 40) cannot be over-estimated. Joyful Surprises that become Memories create
Stories and Pictures of Moments that can break-the-ice; impress, influence and
improve any and all Situations that come to light.
Now after examining all Situations and
processing what has come and gone ‘My Way,’ gone is the Infuriation. People my Age
(62+), grouped sociologically as BabyBoomers, can honestly say that:
We’ve paid
our Dues and Don’ts,
learning
Valuable Lessons that got us to ‘this
Point.’
Specific Situations occur once We enter our
Second Season (what I call being over 50).
Every Decade is accompanied by
its own Highs and Lows, dependent on the Individual’s State of Health &
Wealth. Never before (in the Lifetime
and History of Man and Women) have they been able to ‘live that long.’ And, that
is a Blessing, nothing short of a Miracle. That alone is an Achievement
considering War/Disease/Violence, the three Primary Crisis that face Modern
Humanity.
BabyBoomers (born from 1946-1964) possess the
Ability in our Gene Pool to compare how Life was and then later, decipher how
planning for the Future should be. Via the Sequential Posts (Recordings of our
Experiences of every Variety) that Adults (over 50) possess, a singular Frame
of Mind emerges that could only be
culled by being a tried and true BabyBoomer. Our History is not a Mystery for the Formation of Our
Observations and Roots continue to grow fruitfully every Day lived. In order to
give Credit where Credit is due, I must
add that our Ancestry (those Individuals who were not afraid to take chances and risks) were fully responsible for
the Industrialization Boom (beginning in the 1750s) and enhanced by the High
Technology Boom have given us ‘The Edge’ to escalate that no other Generation
or Species possesses.
When my Fiancée, Robert Hofstadter (from the
Family who won 3 Pulitzers and 1 Nobel Prize), turned 60 on February 8 of 2015,
I told our Baker (Bennison’s Bakery
in Evanston, Illinois) to pipe on his Cake the original, Expression I created
for him:
Sixty is
Sexty ®
because he is, was and always will be (to me). Now, as of 2012, I’ve entered those Waters. In a nutshell, I am glad I’m this old, having
the Opportunity to live:
From the 1900s to the
2000s
entering One Century
into a New Millennium.
Our Generation comprises an elite Age Bracket,
living in a unique Position on three (3) distinct Levels, namely Health – Time
– Communication that can only be defined as a ‘New Series’ to address The Days
ahead.
Later this
year in August, I’ll be marking my 45TH Year Reunion of graduating
from High School in 1970 with a Group of Great Kids that shared some incredible and formative times with
me, that always seem so grand only
because they mark “Our First Round.”
A wide Array of Reasons is forthcoming as to why
Adults over 50 are a Delight to know as a Treasure Trove of Knowledge they
share via the Experiences they gathered.

HOW
LIFE IS SLATED TO GO: The People Factor mingling with Curiosity will make every
Encounter in our 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s+ the Best Ones yet.
In October, 2008 when I was a Chic-of-56, the
popular TV Show, She’s Got The Look was
recruiting Models for a new Season from across the USA. Their new Angle was: Recruit Women who are 35+. Being completely over 35, I went to the Cattle
Call, with hardly a whip of Mascara & Lip Gloss on. I wanted to let the Judges see my Natural
Look, allowing them to know there was plenty to ‘work with.’ Out of 400 Entries of Hopefuls who gathered,
I was chosen and placed in the Top 20 Women. During my Session I was able to
impress Fashionista, Robert Verdi of New York who immediately jumped off
the Stage from his Seat on-stage to play with my Hair (Auburn and to my Waist – a Rarity at ‘My Age’)
and try on my Leopard Coat, which really was fab-fab-fabulous. Because I would not cut my Hair which I consider my “Mane Attraction,” I did
not make ‘The Cut,’ but the Thrill of spending my Sunday Morning in this Competition
and becoming one of their Primary Picks was a complete “Happy” for me. Spontaneity is also a Characteristic of
BabyBoomers. We cover that Territory very well.
The Judges wanted to know about the Contestants
and what singled us out from ‘The Crowd.’
I felt that being the Creator (of a now 25 year long Literary Project)
called:

through the Character’s Expression) the Reader/Viewer can get a Tip on how to
save his/her precious Life so that what happened to me (that dreadful night)
would not or ever happen to them. I
curated 3 Shows for the Crusade, receiving Cartoons from Countries now, which
are now closed to The West. This, you
must note, is before Email took hold of our Correspondences and certainly
before Social Media Networking. All was
bankrolled from my own Retirement Fund, now depleted.
Later
on September 11, 2001, when the Terrorists attacked the USA, I redesigned CAC to become:

one ground-breaking Show at the Peace
Museum.
And, after the Terrorist Attack on the twelve
(12) Cartoonists at Charlie Hebdo in

obvious of Reasons. After all, Age sees
no Color, but the Opportunities afforded to People of Color needs Improvement.

Terrorists. Leaving home at 4:30 AM, I
was 1 of only 300 People in the USA (an Elite Group in our own Right) to be able
to buy (thus support) this Magazine
(depicting and symbolic of Democracy, Liberty, Equality and
Fraternity).
Strange as it may seen, after the Attack, many Media
Companies and Publications would not
air the Cover alone, I was more than
ready to have my Photograph taken holding their Paper proudly on a well-lit and
traveled thoroughfare, allowing this News to ‘go viral.’ Imagine how you would feel if the Shoe was on
the other Foot. This is my Motto and
Mantra.

Aging is Part of the Natural Cycle of Life. Look at the People We read, hear or know
about that do not make it through the last Day (alone) that We experienced.
Some of them may be innocent Babies;
Others may be Pre-Teens;
An Unfortunate Guy who made a ‘stupid mistake’
and did not deserve to die in an odd Collision;
Someone who was in the wrong place at the wrong
time; and/or
Some of them may have been the Victim of a
Violent Crime or Domestic Violent.
The List goes on and on. Therefore, what I’m saying is that every Day is a Blessing where a few Gray
Hairs, Bald Heads or Creaks only add
to your entire Picture or Portfolio: A Picture that only enriches the Real You.
Because Aging is hot now with Numbers and
Studies rising every Day, the
Curiosity Factor (as to how old Friends and Relatives have aged) is a Topic and
Conversation that coincides with how to alleviate the Aches, Pains and Strains
that occur. The Two run hand-in-hand
with a Demographic that cannot be swept under the Persian Rug and is not.
