EXCERPT: January 1, 2018 - 8:05 PM CST
The d(r)eaded Truth has
arrived. No longer Fake News. The Link between Diabetes & Obesity causes
scores of Cancers annually.
Subtitle: IS this the way/weigh you want to start out
your New Year?
“’Being FAT is not where it’s
at…’ rhymes as a Take-Off of a Song
Lyric many Boomers heard when they were younger. Derived from “Being Black is
where it’s at” began as a Nina Simone Hit, explains Robert E. Hofstadter, 67, Author
of a forthcoming Book bent on unraveling the Obesity Crisis spreading across
the Planet. Weighing in at 130 pounds himself, this Lightweight who has taken
on “The Weight” of the World reaches for a pure Beef Hot Dog drenched in Dijon Mustard.
As an Outsider “looking in,” he automatically sees what the average Person
doesn’t; a Sight that has grave Implications for the Life of many, too many of
us.
Asking him to explain The
Gravity & Depravity of why and how People overeat in a world where
mal-nutrition looms, Robert implied what’s been running rampant in the Media.
That is:
“The Fat situation is not
getting any better.”

Even since last year when so
much Media Attention was afforded it, rampant Eating leading to Fat/Obesity
& Morbid Obesity has (actually) gotten worse. Good Food is good for a growing
Body-Mind-Spirit when combined with daily exercise.
INTERVIEWER: So where did People “fall off the proverbial wagon?
Robert begins: “They succumb
to advertising and get low-quality Food.
Low-quality translates into:
high fat – high cholesterol -
high sodium - high calories.
INTERVIEWER: “But Calories taste good. They don’t taste like cardboard.
Robert: “They surely do and that’s
why so many Fat People have given rise to the Worst Food Plague & Epidemic
to shake the Planet since the Irish Potato Crisis. It’s a Spectrum that must be
taken on a day-to-day basis since eating is necessary for survival; whereby
other Addictions as drinking/smoking/drugging is not really necessary.
INTERVIEWER:
National Geographic were
probably the First Magazine to show African Children starving during the 1960s.
Babies famished; bones extruding; eyes protruding from sockets with flies
swirling around their famished Bodies. Mal-Nutritionwas hard to ingest when
Americans were living in the Lap of Luxury; when Middle Class was on the Move;
moving on up and was relatively removed from a place thousands of miles
away. It was easy to turn face and
merely forget. “The Split” between “The Haves” and “The Have-Nots” has grown
wider and with it has emerged an Array of Diseases including deadly Cancers
that have taken out Families and Friends. Can the Government help; and, if so,
in what capacity?
Robert carefully elaborates that People succumb to popular Advertising preferring to utilize convenient Alternatives to standard Healthy Food(s). For the most part, “Healthy Food” does not taste good or as good as what’s bad for you. It all boils down to: “Would you rather have Broccoli or McDonald’s Trans-Fat Fries if you were given “The Choice” to eat something. IF your a Child; those French Fries are convenient to get; no hassle involved; they taste mighty good. After time, they become a Part of that Child’s Make-Up. How he learns to eat carries over to his Adult Years, if he does live that long. Another new demographic for Childhood Obesity centers on “Latch Key Kids” whose parents (work or are from single family units) thus not being home to feed them a well-balanced diet or meal; nor to discuss what’s appropriate. Given a $5 Bill, Little John or Jane works his way over to the nearby Popeyes' or McDonalds' where the Menu is not that happy of a Meal. So your UR saying its easy to be fat.
INTERVIEWER: What can be said
about Obese People on Welfare (wards of the State) whose monthly State Stipends
is limited? Bluntly put:
Where do they get The Money
to be that fat?
Food is expensive. Even
cheaper grocery stories have gotten more expensive the last 2 years. Once a Big
City Phenomena, Soup Kitchens have spread to the smallest Communities. Lots of Pasta;
lots of Calories are in these Cheaper Foods that are given to those who are
Homeless.
INTERVIEWER: Is there a Cure
for Fat in the 21st? The
Dilemma has to be approached like Smoking was 50-60 years ago. A complete
Involvement by Medical Doctors is required, standing shoulder-to-shoulder next
to one other. This is dangerous. Tobacco
industry fought it hard. Anti-Smoking
groups pressured Big Government to monitor each step along the way.
The Bottom Line is that Food
is an Addiction. Food is as controlling as Smoking, Drugs and Alcohol. Society has made it easier to buy a 6-Pack of Beer than a 6 pack
of Ensure. With that being said, what
ensurance for a better future is there if a fat person then finds his
over-indulgence then causes other Complex
and oft-times deadly Diseases?
Robert further elaborates: By using Smoking, over 50% of American Adults smoked 50-60 years ago. Now that number is less than 20%
who are cigarettes smokers. Part of this is accounted by the fact that Smoking is prohibited in many places.
INTERVIEWER: Therefore, you are saying you must cut out
eating for People?
“A 6-pack of Beer is cheaper
than Coke due to the sugar tax that supposedly was to hit these Fat Americans
where it hurts: In the pocketbook. I
think the 2017 sugar tax was detestable but then, again, I’m a Coke-a-Cola consumer
since Childhood.”
INTERVIEWER: Well, Obesity is a topic of great Discussion;
multi-sided from every person’s point of view.
It’s certainly a Big Year for the YEAR: 2018 as Deaths begin to mount
with each bite that is consumed or in some cases wolfed down.
Robert cuts in by adding: “New
cases of Cancer (caused from Diabetes & Obesity) are now linked to twelve (12)
different Cancers. How horrible! Man’s
nasty little habits have ballooned causing a BOOM in Obesity. Furthermore, if a person is obese, s/he will be ridiculed which is known
as Bullying that opens up other avenues
of Pain & Grief beginning in Childhood that can eventually lead to Suicide.
I highly recommend The Lancet
Journals that are highly respected in the Medial Community. An individual must
constantly consider that which is Healthy vs unHealthy Foods. The onslaught of
Chronic Diseases has never been greater.
Almost 24% of all Breast Cancers are attributed to Obesity in high Incomes Western Countries.
END: How do Overweight or Fat People maintain
their Fatness when on Welfare, a Limited Income when even cheap generic Foods
are rising in price? Questions (like
these & more) will be answered in the forthcoming Weeks as We learn more
about Mr. Hofstadter ground-breaking “Take on Fat” and what it means in 21ST
Century Living.
SIDENOTE:
The Interviewee (who has a
BMI: Body Mass Index) of 20 (is underweight) was eating a hot dog loaded down
with Dijon Mustard). It all depends on
what you can get away with.
