When the ‘URGE TO SPLURGE’ overtakes you and the Sudden Realization hits that you don’t have 2 nickels to rub together, what do you do? As a Sociology Major who has studied Human Phenomena for Decades that’s what I’ve been seeing happen before my very eyes to multitudes and millions of people (across the world) since the economic ball fell circa 2008. was introduced by me to the World as a new Literary Genre beginning on Wednesday, July 25, 1990 at 9:45 PM to improve the Lives of Mankind (Women, Children and Pets included), there’s systematic, insightful and intelligent (yet not bank-busting) ways to get around this shattering dilemma.
#1: Above all else, Eventology (as an Art & Study) is a spirited and spiritual State of Mind and Heart that I created and enforce. Anyone anywhere can see that only those Individuals and Institutions who are humanitarian are the ones that will succeed in this world. And, with that said: Splurging is what you make of it. When I started this HOLIDATE (as these Events are called), in 1994 (19 years ago) there were many unbridled Ways to splurge depending on how RICH you were and what amount you wanted to spend and could spend.
Back in that Time Slot, all my Writings and Thought Processes dealt with the Materialism that ‘mattered more’ to Humanity and Westernized Societies. Keeping up with the Joneses destroyed many. Today, the Day of the BIG $PENDER has vanished for many of us. Jobs are rare as Unemployment swells. Food Stamps feed millions. Gasoline Prices need their own bank account. ‘Celebrating on a Shoe String’ is the primary focus now as National Splurge Day’s Activities soon fall on:

its designated year. FYI: That Eventological Formula follows: April 15Th is Income Tax Day in the United States. It takes approximately 6 weeks for Americans to receive their Checks back. That takes us up to mid-June. With monies returned, the Working Class now had an Additional Sum in which they could $pend without worry. Therefore, I conceived National Splurge Day ©1994 in order to help kickstart their Summer(s) which would officially being on the 21ST of June.
TAKING US UP TO JUNE OF 2013: With so many homes in foreclosure; people living from paycheck-to- paycheck; kids accruing huge student loans that they can never pay back and credit card debt escalating, GOING ALL OUT is extremely difficult (and outright a stupid action); however, if you use SHOPPING as your Main Indicator to celebrate, I highly suggest Resale Shops. Making Gifts is a 2nd Alternative that I’ve done which also allows the person to explore their creative side. Second Handbook Stores offer great deals, not only for Reading Groups, but in order to build up your Literary Collection.
If you splurge by dining out, order an entrée or meal that will not cause you to take out a second mortgage. Think B-4 U $pend.
