This Act(ion) appears to be the next most logical Step in what We all see on TV. There’s the Bad Guys and then there are the SuperBad Guys who have gotten worse since The Days of Wyatt Earp (a Sheriff); Bonanza and Paladin, a hired Gun.
Granted, I will agree with you that was a long time ago, of course, but we have to draw an historical BaseLine in which to work. Since I am fortunate enough to come through the last Sixty-Five Years unscathed and in one healthy piece although by my Founding of Cartoonists Against Crime ©1991 & Cartoonists Against Terrorism ©2001, you can see that I’ve kept my hand in and a handle on what’s going on “out there,” not all of my Days were that rosy.
And, it has not been a Pretty Picture [at all] for tens of thousands of Families across The Decades and Centuries panning across the entire World, if We trace the Ammunitions back to their Origins. If anything, as Man (as a Civilization) has progressed in his Evolution, it appears that he has taken more Steps back that forward.

This is not to insinuate that I am against the Great Inventions of Printing & TransCommunication that connects all of us who are bound by Social Media instead of tramping over to the Post Office to buy a Stamp, but I am highly troubled that that brief Trek to the Post Office may cost an innocent and well-beloved Member of our Community his or her Life. That is, s/he gets fatally struck by a Stray Bullet that is encountered on a brief Trip that snuffs out a Precious Life far too soon. The Repercussions is that, that Life is not only terminated (far before s/he was to perish from our Planet, i.e.: DIE naturally) but his Family is devastated, morally, spiritually and forever. Life {as they once knew it} will never ever return.
What if that Person was a Child?
What if that Person was Head of a Household?
What if that Person owned a big Company providing Jobs to thousands?
What if that Person just moved to our Country seeking a new & better Life?
What if that Person was an Educator, learned in many Ways that could aid and assist Society?
What if that Person was your Mother – Father – Daughter – Son – Uncle – Aunt – Cousin – Grandparent?
What if that Person was your Service Dog being a Member of a Police Squad, a beloved Canine trained to serve and protect?
Being true in most Cases…what if that Person or Pet was merely in the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time?
What if that Person was you?
Or more than likely AT THE RIGHT PLACE @ THE RIGHT TIME (Enter: A Country Music Hall or Open Space Summer Concert) with 22,000 of his/her best Friends and a Slash of Bullets pellets the Arena?
Basically, as a pragmatic, babybooming Idealist, that is not how Life is to be; nor is it to end...abruptly and ever so depressing, uncontrollably sadly when an entire Nation (and World) live at High Risk Levels. Today, for the most part, We are all super-connected by Twitter – Facebook – LinkedIn – Instagram – Blogs, all able to “reach out and touch someone(s)” within less than a nano-second passes by. Additionally, We are aided by a Wild Assortment of GET TO KNOW ME OR ELSE Apps and Applications that conjoin us every Hour of every Day in every Way.

There is no Need for another shrilling Ambulance to speed past our Windows.”
We do have The Sources & Resources of putting this Craziness and Insanity to rest. The Advent of Television was “The First” to connect People visually since Man (collectively) is a highly visual Breed of Species. A Picture contains a 1,000 mighty Words that can move The Masses into Positive Action. If you see it, you would automatically assume it is real. That’s not necessarily so, especially with Photoshop melding Pixes on a routine bases, but Common Sense & our Gut Instincts tell us that the “Common Person” is no longer safe. That’s why a humongous Number of Crime Movies & Television Shows have grown in popularity, surmounting and knocking the lovey-dovey Soap Operas of the Mid-Late 1990s out of The Circuit.
We all want to be part of The Circuit and belong to a Greater Cause. I, for one, never felt I needed to be Part of an entire Group but chose to rather instigate and originate Groups that would benefit others who happened to be able to benefit by them. When a Person (a myself) sees THE NEED, there NEEDS to be a Time – the Time – to stop and endorse and reroute what NEEDS to be changed before more Atrocities happen.
Today is that Day and it also marks my 65TH Year & 2ND Month Anniversary. So far So good…as:
We are now at an Intersection that I call: Plan or Perish. The BabyBoomers (My Generation) are nearing “The Top of The Totem Pole.” LifeSpans are shortening. At 65, Boomers do not have another 65 years to squander. Our Parents (if they are still alive) are now in their Mid-80s and are or may be relatively active and clear thinkers, even coming from an Era when Life was much easier to lead. However, many aging Americans & Seniors (and those across The World) have slowed down considerably due to their advanced Years and are living their final days out, hopefully happily and safely. However, as I had stated in my Documentation of 1991 upon my Launch of

(as its Motto), The Proliferation of The Handgun blew away “The Dreams & Schemes” of TOO MANY PEOPLE that We knew and loved. Even from afar, many Actors lost their Lives. Closer to home, Deranged and Troubled People have turned to Guns as their “Weapon of Choice” and used them in heinous Ways that now make The Fate of many too unbearable. The latest International Fact is that 65 million People are displaced alone, driven from their Countries as of October, 2017.

is how I Latinically term this Juncture in Modernity, one that is difficult to accept as “My Generation” is as starry eyed and hopeful as We were when We were born 65 years ago.
Those Creature Comforts made my Life extremely comfortable as it was back in “The Day” when all our Parents had to fear was Fear itself. That’s a very famous Quote for those of you not hearing it before. Honestly, that Era did exist. Therefore, making and safeguarding those We love is what We must do; quicker and faster than ever before. And, luckily for The Geniuses who have afforded us those Technologies, We can now launch a System, Program or Crusade as this from The Confines of my Living Room of my Home, in Chicago, the Third Largest City in the continental USA; metropolitan and cosmopolitan as “Sweet Home Chicago” is and know that something worthwhile will happen and occur.
Someone’s Life will be saved.
A Death will be prevented.
Of course, We may never know, but from The Feedback I received from The White House down to Prison Cells at Penitentiaries (when I spearheaded Cartoonists Against Crime in 1991 and then re-accelerated The Campaign in 2001 when The Towers fell in New York City), there is absolute Interest and Concern that We make it through yet another Day.
From Dragnet to Perry Mason (in The 1950s) when Life began for many of us (now Adults who presumably are approaching their “Twilight Years” as one of my better Friends terms this Stage of The Game), The Crime TV Genre grew as The Ratings mushroomed which such Series as:

Line of Duty
Wanted: Dead or Alive

The Bottom Line remains what Show or Program generates the most Money. Outside of Morticians, Crime has become its own Industry spiraling at The Expense and Deaths of others – many of which We (as Individuals) personally know, care about or are, to be blunt about it, a matter that matters no matter if We are: Black – White –Red - Yellow – Brown – Bronze or care to ride out a few of our Months with blue or green streaked Hair. I am astonished by this Revelation as I compose this Blog.
For all of us who are able to “Beat The Clock” as the 1950-2003 CBS/ABC TV Show was named, Life is a Good Gig in a highly exciting Era, but for those who are unable to pull it off for a long and interesting Run, this Campaign,

The Crime Drama, In The Heat of The Night ran from 1988-1995, but We now realize that Crime runs amok 24/7 and heightens in Intensity during The Heat of The Summer when so many Youths are idling on The Inner City Streets; where Poverty runs rampant; and where no Employment Opportunities are found. Yet, Suburbia now runs rampant with Crime and Violence. A Home-grown Terrorist may live next to you. No one is safe. Safety is not only a National and International Concern, but a Familial One where Communities must bond and bind together.
