CS: CAT Sustainability
Shhh…I have to be quiet as I type this as my CAT: #CaliTheCalico is snoozing but I copied &
pasted a few of the HIGH POINTS Mr. Johnson so poignantly made. I could not
agree more:
The Sustainable in a Generation Plan targets
three interconnected ambitions that are essential for sustainable growth: Healthy Planet, Thriving People and Nourishing Wellbeing.
Under Thriving People, sourcing comes into play, particularly Mars’s
efforts to respect the human rights of those who supply our product ingredients
around the world. Science tells us
that when people can enjoy life with a pet, they tend to get more exercise, report less
loneliness and stress, and have stronger
social ties. So by enriching and supporting people’s lives, pets contribute
in a broad, foundation way to good health and wellness for millions and
millions of people.
I do have to
comment tho on this:
I’m also particularly interested in the
connection between pets and SDG Goal 11: Sustainable
Cities and Communities. It focuses on making cities inclusive, safe,
resilient and sustainable, which requires adequate housing, transport systems
and access to green space for people’s health and wellbeing.
MY COMMENT: CATS are horribly mistreated in BIG CITIES.
Feral CATS are starving. Estimates of 200,000 Cats are feral in Chicago alone. Dogs are also mistreated in numerous Ways that we hear about on the Nightly News. On the 'other Hand' (or Paw if you are so inclined), The Rodent Population (in some of these Neighborhoods - the Rats themselves) are healthy and as big as a Medium-sized CAT, but vicious, toxic and relentless.
Adding Insult to Injury when it comes to the State of Pets in Urban America: If you do not pay a stiff $300-500 for PET RENTAL FEE, your CAT is not accepted into the Apartment. Building Landlords will nickel-and-dime you for every Cent. Plenty of Buildings are being bought out by aggressive Real Estate Development Companies who apparently have a Monopoly. They vehemently prefer NO PETS; therefore, the PETS are turned out if The Family is poor/underprivileged and cannot afford this additional Expense. This is CRIMINAL. This is SADISTIC. This is tantamount to turning Family away. This NEVER happened in the 1960s when I was “growing up Koopersmith” in downstate Illinois. Our Pets had lovely Lives (being the Creatures they were meant to be); running wild; always coming Home for their Meals. Then, at night to sleep-in and be part of our Family. Each one of our Pets: Tha Hin, Molly, Tiger, Twinkle, Daisy Dumpling, Prince, Bullet, Sam & Ham were well-loved by Neighbors as We loved their Pets in our Hood, knowing them "by name," of course. My precious Cali was 1 of those TOSSED by the Wayside till We met nearly 2 Novembers ago. That will never ever happen to her again!

Now, She is the #CEO_of_My_Heart. I actually love her more than 'The
Boyfriend' that I've known since 2002 - coming up on 16 years t hatWe’ve been together next Month. I tell this to People We meet when out and about; they laugh [at first] then seriously say: "I feel the same Way about my Pet."
A kinder and
more understanding CAT never lived; so grateful & graceful. She is so much FUN 2 hang with. We do everything together; even composing a CAT

CALi
goes for a walk on a Leash (at least 3 Times a Day) as a Dog does. We walk down 6 flights of Steps til We get to
the Lobby that then leads to our Outdoors. She literally RUNS FOR JOY to the OUTBACK
which is 'OUTBACK' – The Envy of every Cat Owner (who has a Conscience) in our blocked in, very private Area.
We know what’s GOOD for us. #CATXercise is a very bonding Activity Humans
can do with their PETS. We are all for
it and write about it in our Daily Appeals and will be highlighted in her 2019-2029 Calendar, Blog Posts, etc.
Neighbors chat with us from out of their Window wondering how I trained her to walk like a DOG. I explained that CALi is not necessarily trained. We share a Bond.We enjoy one another's Company when in Nature. After all, your Cat is your Partner; not a Prisoner in your Apartment
sitting it out for her 9 Lives, blankly staring out, yearning to be Part of Nature. They are Nature-made like Man is. They know I’m
right. This implants the Seed that they, too, should take their CAT out for a Walk. The Change will do both of them good.
Lots to be done; Lots to be said! During The Course of this past Summer, several
other Cat Owners commented & joined us.
It was quite nice they knew there was an Alternative to the CAT IN THE
WINDOW Syndrome.

Kenny Malone, Anchor, Interviewer & Producer of NPR's PlanetMoney flew from New York City to Chicago to interview me on April 5, 2017 about my Conception of EVENTOLOGY. He was particularly interested in my Formation of National Splurge Day - which is what most of us DO onto our Pets, endlessly. In this Photo, Cali is bonding with Kenny, on his Lap purring away. Loud Vocals...when a few Seconds later she sneezed into his Mic. I immediately said: "god-blessed you" for her Sneeze and he left her precious little Sneeze - Noise in the Interview. Indeed, that was the Best Part of my Interview that took a Day in the Making. I promoted it to Kleenex as "The Sneeze heard around The World." I'm still thinking it would make for a great #supURR_Bowl Commercial.
