Reprint of: Twas the Nite Before Scriptapalooza ®

Chicago, IL USA:

All across the world, as 337 hopeful scriptwriters(who have already won the Quarterfinalist round) sit and patiently wait (with nerves all aflutter) for until August 6 when MARK ANDRUSHKO, President of Scriptapalooza - The International Screenplay Competition -- announces the Semi-Finalists of his 12TH Competition, I remembered a Jingle I rewrote months ago. I thought it would be appropriate at this time. However, it is different, as we all know Santa will visit us all. Winning is different, of course, based on Talent and knowing the top story, like cream rises to the top.

Won't you join me in reading this passage. It follows. After all, we each have a story - many in some cases and recording them for history, movie & screen is a way of recording those for us and future generations.

RE: ASK/Chicago: T'was 5 Nights Before Script-A-Palooza...

Wednesday, December 30, 2009 – 1:15 PM CST

Hi MARK:

Now that I’m done with my Screenplay, what am I going to do? You guessed it – I’ve already begun to rewrite it and yes, I do have some guilt that I already sent in my initial and first copy for your Contest whose First Deadline is in 6.5 Days, but I figure every Moment I spend with IT scrIpT, then I am learning more techniques and getting more Ideas. One thing I did learn was that I am no Weird AL Yankovich – the musician – satirist that will take a popular tune and make it into a Pop Culture Statement.

I tried my hand at this ‘Art’ on Sunday, December 27TH from 12:22 – 12:43 AM. I just couldn’t sleep and I wanted to write something so I took:

T’was The Night Before Christmas

and reworded/rephrased it to fit your Contest, with The Theme being:

Imaging what it must be like
if Santa were making The Rounds (as he does)
and would see all these Contestants
sitting in their respective Homes, Libraries, Dens, etc.,
finishing up their Script-A-Palooza Entries!

Mark, do you have a minute to read it?

Bear in mind that it is a Take-Off because mine happens 5 Days before your First Deadline – whereby the real Christmas is on the 25TH or 11 Days earlier.

After all, it is all in the Timing, at times (which we know).

Also, bear in mind this Verse is extremely and rather unpolished – but it captures ‘The Sentiment’ – which I think is pretty darn cool – that all around The World, People are characterizing and writing Stories that YOU get to read and YOU are the ONE responsible who generated this kind of Inspiration. Here goes:

T’was 5 Days before Script-A-Palooza when all through the House, not a Noise was heard, only the Click-clicking of The PC Mouse.

When arose such a Clatter, I sprang from my Keyboard to see was what the matter!

When all through The Houses (from Landau to Katmandu), 1000s of Writers (just like me) were glued to the Mouses.

With Suspense, Romance and Comedies in mind, they relentlessly worked through Plots and Acts and each moving Movie Line.

Merging Content with Context, past Acts, Log Lines and Synopsis, they diligently worked to score what they thought the Top is!

When all through The Drama, the Hero appears where Gender and Character merge through Rivers of Tears (substitute Cheers, if it’s a Comedy).

From the Shadows of Memory, emblazoned with Action, The Writer peruses Acts full of Vigor and Passion.

On Act 1 and Act 2 and Act 3 and more, the loyal Audience clamors to know what lies at your Core.

With ‘What’s Happening’ filtering into The Text, the Writer knows what should come next.

Go away Writer’s Block, Spell Check, Grammar and Tense Situations, as Story Devices seek out their out Temptations, the Audience hinges on Shockers and Thrillers,

On Cliff-Hangers, unanswered Questions and pilfered Scenes, as this Screenplay is headed for high ranking Awards, the ‘Fade to Black’ ends up the Writer’s Score.

With Screenplay completed and tucked under his Arm, The Writer walks his ‘Red Carpet’ to the post office, charmed.

With Visions of Hollywood firmly now in his Head, he just hope he gets his Screenplay read!

And that was it, Mark! Yes, I agree – I should get MORE exercise! The First 2 Lines were my favorite, being:

T’was 5 Days before Script-A-Palooza when all through the House, not a Noise was heard, only the Click-clicking of The PC Mouse.

When arose such a Clatter, I sprang from my Keyboard to see was what the matter!

Hey, again, thank you for opening this Door (for so many of us) and for the Opportunity to participate in such a neat and creative Endeavor!

I hope you and yours have a terrific December 31-January 1 Celebration! I anxiously look forward to all the New Year brings!

Cheers,

Eventology hits 20 Year Mark: July 25, 2010.

Chicago, IL USA:

Twenty (20) years ago today (except it was a Wednesday night) at 9:45 PM, inspiration hit me and I began a new literary format called:

EVENTOLOGY (R)
THE ART OF EVENT-MAKING
ADRIENNE SIOUX KOOPERSMITH's CAMPAIGNS FOR HUMANITY (C)1990

which now houses over 1900 HOLIDATES TO CELEBRATE in 34 different categories. With my recent placing in

Scriptapalooza's Quarter Finalist Screen Writing Contest

beating out over 3200 other scripts and being in the top 377, I'm happy to say that this footing in EVENT-MAKING secured my writing precision to be able to write 3 spec(ial) scripts in 9 months, from August 8 of 2009 to April 7, 2010. And, of course, many of the HOLIDATES were used in the Scenes.

Making every day count is what we should do - whether there is or isn't a day off. After all, each is a blessing and making the most of it, makes the most of ourselves and those around us whom we care about.

Here's to the next 20+ years. Eventologize and see the difference a Day makes.

Protocol 4 Hollywood: Script Signing. The Big Break is coming:

AS POSTED ON SCRIPTAPALOOZA's FACE BOOK ACCOUNT:

Sunday, July 25, 2010 - 12:23 PM CST

Good Afternoon, EveryOne: With curiosity taking over me, I did ‘The Math” & with 80/90 producers (readers) who went thru our 3500+ Scripts that Mark & Genevieve received for Scriptapalooza: 2010 that means each & every 1 of them read approximately 40 Scripts each. Am I write? That is just unbelievable! I don’t think I read 40 books in 4 years (let alone 7 months’ time) unless they are kid books (of which I can finish in a day’s time). Talk about having control of your Time Management. That’s newsworthy in and of itself. Another thing I’d like to comment on today is: What is our next step as QuarterFinalists?

Since the announcement of the 1/4-Finalists, I did go back & re-read my script; buffed it up, but should we do be doing promotionals, or is our standing going to be ‘shrouded’ by the Semi-Finalist Winners next week and of course, the BIG WINNERS on August 15TH. It seems like we have this ‘window of opportunity’ to do something, but I’m not sure what the Protocol 4 Hollywood is. Does anybody out there in Facebook Land know? It seems like Movie Mags should be informed about the Hard Work these Producers (Readers) do just to jumpstart our careers even before the movie itself gets produced + distributed, let alone Mark & Genevieve’s contribution to getting US discovered in the first place.

Cheers, ASK/Chicago, IL

The Scriptapalooza Announcement 1000s have been waiting for…

eMedia Release: The Scriptapalooza Announcement 1000s have been waiting for…

DateLine: Friday, July 23, 2010 – 11:30 AM

Chicago, IL USA: The day has finally arrived. A day that some people – Creatifs (so we are definitely in a league of our own) – have waited for since…well, for some of us, a lifetime(to say the least). For the mathematicians ‘out there’ in cyberspace amongst you reading this missive, you can contact those lucky folks yourself directly and find out the particulars – the 6 W’s of Journalism (being who, what, when, where, why and website). What am I alluding to now in this mysterious manner and matter?

You may not have heard.

Today is July 23, 2010, the 204TH day of 2010 and one that will go down in Movie Making History as it is officially Announcement Day for:

THE 12TH SCRIPTAPALOOZA SCREENWRITING COMPETITION

being held by Mark Andrushko, President and Genevieve Cibor, Vice President whose goal is to nurture and create opportunities by launching the career of diligent writers into a career that can be(come) limitless in the years to come. As excitement rises, the First Phase of their Announcements of those very Winners for 2010 is today - a 3-Part Series with more winners being announced on July 30TH and lastly on August 15TH.

3541 Entries or Submissions arrived by the specific deadline dates. Spec scripts about every topic under the sun and in every genre – even some genres never heard or seen before from places far, far away from the hub-bub of Tinseltown, sunny California – Hollywood where their Power Plant – Scriptapalooza Central operates from.

What’s different from this competition is that Mark scours, networks and finds people in The Movie Industry that can move his contestants products – i.e.: their scripts, especially if they are not represented by a literary or talent agency, manager or legal team.

Oh, it’s nice if Mom, Aunt Nelly, your town’s baker and your first grade teacher all like your movie idea, but face it, they definitely cannot make it into the blockbuster you think it should ‘writely’ be. However, they can help you physically move into larger confines with a palacial view and invite their friends to its premiere/opening matinee and ultimately buy its DvD. Every person has a place and duty when it comes to movie viewership. When you seriously think about the process:

Lots of time, talent and expertise went into this competition, I just must tell you, on both ends. To me, that calls for a story in and of itself – even perhaps a book (which of course, could be turned into a made-for-TV-movie).

Historically, Scriptapalooza has been steadily growing year-by-year since 1998 when Mark started ‘The Competition’ as many of his friends found it difficult to connect with those in the Industry who could break a Script.

FAST-FORWARDING 12 YEARS TO THE PRESENT:

Lots of hopeful people entered Scriptapalooza. But hope doesn’t make Hollywood what it is today. Entertainment is a business and a big business at that! Numerically, there are some villages (across our granite planet) that don’t even have a demographic of 3541 living inhabitants within their confines. There are some ambitious writers who entered more than 1 script which did help the Industry Professionals realize that there ‘might be a sequel here in the making.’ There are stories to these stories as each page unfolded.

After all, isn’t it fun to revisit ‘The Character’ we initially like and grew fond of? Me in particular? I love seeing what those characters are doing years or even decades down the line.

Have they matured?
Do they have the same issues and problems?
What then can the new story line be?
Has it kept up with current pop culture stances?

Line-after-line; month-after-month; page-after-page; and scene-after-scene, these Industry Professionals read and studied these scripts in order to pick out the Quarterfinalists and on today of all days:

July 23, 2010 – a Friday in July – the 30TH Friday of the year, at that, that Selection was announced.

And those brad (manufacturing) companies saw a boom in sales. Who says manufacturing is dead in America. It just might be a wise idea to buy stock in them for 2011’s Competition since Scriptapalooza is not only making a name for itself, but giving once-frustrated writers a chance to see their goals-come-true. But then, on second thought, many writers are entering their scripts electronically so:

1) there is no waiting in line at the post office to mail the parcel;

2) ink & printing costs are saved;

3) paper supplies are reduced; and

4) brads eventually become a fastener of ‘the Past’ (a hot commodity for eBay enthusiasts)

Next Friday on July 30TH the Semi-Finalists will be announced.

On Sunday, August 15, 2010 the winner who receives $10,000 (first prize and what a nice surprise that is) and the runners-up will be announced.

A NOVEL PREDICTION (we could say):

There’s going to be a lot of happy writers ‘out there’ and in the years to come, many pleased movie goers. All thanks to Mark & Genevieve and their drive to find the best Scripts the 21ST Century has to offer.

As Mark from his Headquarters in Hollywood ever so humbly stated after he announced the Quarterfinalists around 10:31 AM CST:

“It wasn't us, the production companies made all the decisions for the Quarterfinalists.”

What’s also startling but oh-so great about Mark & Genevieve’s competition ‘Scriptapalooza’ (and you gotta love saying its name fast) is that from this point on in fleeting time, they promote all those winning Scripts to Movie Industrialists for a solid year. No other competition does this for their winners. This is hard work. However, that’s how characters become a ‘household’ name in the entertainment world and wedge their way into our hearts, minds, souls and become the bases for popular culture.

Having headed my own PRAM: Public Relations – Advertising – Marketing Group for many years, it should be noted that that gesture amounts to tens of thousands of dollars. Recognition alone is enough, but an ongoing promotion like this is only icing (and how sweet it is) on the cake – proverbs aside, of course. Not only that, most screenwriters do not have access to these Movie Industry Professionals who are busy producing or the directors who are busier directing or the studios that are knee-deep in turning out and critiquing the next big box office sensation(al smash).

HOW THE SCENARIO GOES: Here you are – a bona fide Scriptapalooza winner – and while you’re soundly sleeping at night with visions of the red carpet dancing in your head; having a V8 or sunning on the back veranda reading your favorite movie mag (perhaps yours!), Mark & Genevieve are ‘out there’ working on your behalf. What a great feeling. Ah, there’s nothing better than teamwork-in-action.

And now, without further adieu to see who those talented and illustrious Winners are, just P&C Point & Click your way over to:

http://scriptapalooza.com/Winners.html

And I’ll see you in line. “Get your thumbs ready” as Roger Ebert says. In the meantime, I have plenty of Tweets to send out as this is ‘Absolute News’ worth reporting. Oh, yes, by the way, check out Scriptapalooza’s FaceBook & Twitter Accounts:

as the excitement continues building across the Planet, story-b(u)y-story. And a 2-Thumbs Up for the Dynamics that make Scriptapalooza the Entity it is today in Literature & Motion Picture Avenues.

2000 Days Before 2000 ©1994 – 16 years ago…

Chicago, IL USA:

Eventological History in the making as History usually goes along and thus proves itself for each and every day.

Back in 1994 on July 11, 1994, I created the Universal Holidate named

2000 Days Before 2000 Days ©1994

whose premise was: Do 1 thing a day till December 31, 1999 so you can successfully say you did 2000 things before 2000 that U would not ordinarily do. Designed for procrastinators and those who needed to get their abode in a tidier condition, this Concept caught on like WILDFIRE and I was able to speak on radio & TV stations across the planet.

Its predeccessor 2000 Days After 2000 ©1997 was harmed by the bombing of the Twin Towers and the spread of Terrorism (homegrown and foreign) to the corporate shores of America...plus, I began pursuing other Creative Literary Formats as Books, The Internet, Movie Scripts as well as blogging now as this and twittering. However, it's nice to look back and see where you've come from and hopefully for Future Pursuits, leave those doors open for more Happenings that may occur that deserve to be written about.

Koopersmith's Countdown to 58...

Chicago, IL USA:

July 9, 2010: Now with me being only 1 month away from my 58TH Birthday things seem to heat up even if the weather doesn't register 90 plus degrees. There's always things I feel that must get done before another year is gone -- flitting itself away for still more challenges.

And that's exactly how I feel although things have gotten done to quite a satisfactory order, there's more accomplishments to fulfill and IF I don't do them, who will?

July 1, 2010 - Turning Point in Eventology

Chicago, IL USA:

Yes, it's officially here: July 1, 2010 and that marks 1/2 of 2010 is gone; we are well into the 21st Century and in 24 more days:

EVENTOLOGY
THE ART OF EVENT-MAKING
Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith's Campaigns For Humanity (C)1990

will reach its milestone 20TH Year Celebration.

With over 1900 HOLIDATES, there indeed is something worthwhile to celebrate between all those other commercially based dates.

Not only that, but within 6 weeks, SKiN, my 3 movie scripts (of a grand total of 6) have the possibility of being optioned in Hollywood. That, of course, will give TOY-hood and TOY-dom 10 more of the most exciting TOYS in which to film, cast and produce - TOYS that are much cuter, sexier and more seductive than any of the ones currently on THE SCENE.

July 1st also marks the start of my 3rd Month of ASK's V8 BEFORE 58 Challenge and already I have lost 1.5 notches on my belt. This is all in time for my 40th Year Class Reunion from High School -- out in the cornbelt. I wonder who will be able to recognize WHOM...at this stage of the game. Most of us are connected already via Facebook given modern technology.

Gearing up for the Summer is indeed exciting. Make it a safe, happy & healthy one for you, too.
