What could be better than having my Holidate NO BRAINER DAY ©1996 fall on a Sunday? Considering some of us need to work and get paid for our Brains, Smarts & Intelligence, just having a day to slack off and not think is a welcome(d) change. Next year, maybe I'll rewrite it to No Brainer Week! Linda Frothingham announces: The Writers Boot Camp Fellowship - Deadline: Feb 24

From a friend of LINDA FROTHINGHAM of Chicago/Hollywood.com at Writers boot camp:
In case you are interested the WBC fellowship deadline is 2/24/11.
I have a promo code for 20% off. Its WIF211 (women in film code)

The Writers Boot Camp Fellowship
Educating Future Professionals
Writers Boot Camp has awarded over $250,000 in coursework to over 50 Fellows in the first year and a half of the Fellowship. Watch for news of our first development deal winner and producing partner in the next few weeks.
February Creative Categories

Deadline: Thursday, February 24

Feature Film: Romantic Comedy

Television Pilot: Half-Hour Relationship Comedy

When a Romantic Comedy or Comedy TV Series does break out, it can achieve a wide audience. But the challenge of anticipating the social zeitgeist a few years out--since it will take that long to fully develop your material through the many stages of work--renders most romantic and comedic pieces derivative.

Transcending cliche in these genres is not a no-brainer. Whether you're currently in love, or not, or still in a relationship following Valentine's Day this week, these genres require articulate characterization and relationship progression that is particularly electric.

The question is not only how to create a prescient comic platform but also how to complicate and extend the entertainment in a more thoroughly fresh way.

Application Changes and Submission Tips

Too many past candidates have underestimated the competitive nature of this Fellowship. Not even the winners so far have submitted material ready for the making. Even the ideas based on existing scripts are all works in progress, which means that you need to commit ideas that you believe in.
If you're planning to submit an idea, it will have to include more than just a set-up. The set-up in a feature story and the situation of a series can intimate potential, but it's the development of the middle of the story or story line that will provide the momentum of comedy and that will sustain the rooting interest of romance.

We've also added stronger guidelines in support of the questions toward encouraging you to choose a scene that matches the Premise Line and to submit a scene from the middle of the story or episode.

These choices could push you to a higher ranking and level of consideration. In these first five months, we have found that after the narrowing of the field to a smaller group of talented, professionally-minded candidates, it's the scene work (no more than three pages) that can differentiate a writer from the pack and create separation from the other worthy yet still equally rough-hewn ideas. We've made some changes to the application. First, for TV we've added a secondary question for the description of the series, which will complement the Premise Line. Next, we now require a single sentence description of the scene, which should encourage you to consider its intent.

For writers submitting TV pilot ideas, remember that half-hour scripts may be either single-camera film, formatted the same as feature films, or multi-camera sitcom, in which the page format is double-spaced. It's always helpful to compare your idea to the lineage of past and current shows and to articulate your vision accordingly.

We're looking for Fellowship candidates to submit a great idea and a scene that entertains in keeping with the potential of that clever idea. Many ideas cross over between the big and small screen. The main distinction between feature film and television is whether the idea feels like it can resolve itself in a single adventure, or if it indicates an ongoing, recurring source of situations and episodes.

The application deadline is Thursday, February 24 at 11:59pm!

Apply Now to Become a Fellow

Fellowship Details

Each month, the Writers Boot Camp Fellowship awards three $5000 full scholarships to our Online Professional Membership (OPM), including an opportunity to compete for an annual writing/development deal with Writers Boot Camp Productions and/or a studio, network or independent producer.

The Writers Boot Camp Fellowship is unlike any other in that a minimum of three awards are granted monthly, Creative Categories change each month, reflect viable genres and project parameters for both feature film and original television series and selection is only the beginning of the Fellowship process.

Monthly Creative Categories also include awards for diversity in subject matter and lead characters, as well as inspired writers based on personal experience and circumstances. After Fellows complete a project within the first six months of OPM coursework, they compete for the development deal with our sponsoring partner.

Writers Boot Camp encourages its current members and alumni to apply. If selected as a Fellow, your coursework will be extended, and as a Fellow you will be eligible to compete for the development deal six months after your selection.

Again, the deadline is Thursday, February 24--and winners wil be notified by Monday, February 28.

Candidates need the following to apply for the Fellowship:

An original idea for a feature film or television series pilot.
One scene (no more than three pages) conveying the entertaining potential of your idea.

A short paragraph on your goals and completed online application with fee.
A commitment of at least 10 hours per week for your creative and writing process through OPM.

Notification to winners and candidates is swift and the evaluation process is thorough, based on Writers Boot Camp's comprehensive, professional tools and creative guidelines.

For more info and to apply, go to writersbootcamp.com/Fellowship, or email Max Timm, Writers Boot Camp's Creative Director at mtimm@writersbootcamp.com.

In Writers Boot Camp's 20 years, its coursework has been distinguished by the emphasis on learning fundamentals while actually writing and completing scripts. Founder Jeffrey Gordon's proprietary tools and teaching process, first taught in his living room in 1989, have helped thousands of alumni.

Your referrals are important to us, so please ask candidates to tell us that they heard about the Fellowship from you!

ASK's 20TH Book: TIME: This Is My Existence™

TIME: This Is My Existence™

Chicago - IL USA

THE STUDY & EXPLANATION OF
THERE’s A TIME FOR…
PER ASK: ADRIENNE SIOUX KOOPERSMITH
Creator - Screenwriter - Author - Promoter - Eventologist
STUDIO 1437
Chicago - IL USA

“This Is My Existence,™ based upon and ruled by TIME. I never have the Time to do it all. I never have enough Time, yet I waste it frightfully, squander it and then have the nerve to sleep the rest of it away. However, the Sheer Brilliance of these Fragments of Thoughts (like these and endless as they are as I’ve created 1000s) is that they consistently show that I have reached and successfully completed a Goal. No matter now meager that Achievement is or was, it was completed due to The Time I put into it. ‘Eager’ is the Root Word of Meager and it stems from yet another Rootier Word: AGE, which all goes back and can be traced back to TIME, which is Ageless although some of us think that coining Names to the Ages will delight future generations. Time’s Essence and what TIME does to us, for us and because of us makes us into the people we are and are not. Join the Conversation – make up your own and see how you can better manage The TIME you have left. Make the Time and take the Time for some Valuable ME tiME. TIME is, after all, fleeting and we will never pass this Way again.”

The Death of Borders & its meaning for the Continuation of Civilization.

JIM SKAFISH, a FB buddy of mine asked, stated and posted:

The Death of the Music Industry is much worse than we thought: http://read.bi/hxI9IT It was just a matter of time, because labels have ripped off artists for such a LONG time, and of course, it all comes back!

TO WHICH MY RESPONSE IS:

It's also now the death of LITERATURE, Jim with the closing of all those Borders Books & Music that sold the songs/tunes/hits that we love to dance too as well sa the literature people like me write. There will be no way to get a product out that is bricks and mortar and WHERE would an artist go to sign copies? Virtual copies? Oh, please. I have a gut feeling that once EVERYTHING that gets put & placed online - GETS - online, then there will be terrorist global attack and voila, the end of civilization. The Ancient Incas/Aztecs or Mayans - I think it's the later predict all this will happen come Dec. 12, 2012 - prob. at 12:12 AM or 1:12 PM. It's all been written up. Extremely sad - and inconceivable, but that is what GREED does to a society.

Snowed on LSD -- a Song for all Seasons & Meteorologic Disturbances by Skip Haynes

Chicago, IL USA.

Probably 1 of the top 2 rock songs to ever come out of Chicago during the 1900s belongs to Skip Haynes of the Band, Aliotta, Haynes & Jeremiah that played the CMC: Chicago Music Circuit when 'Music rocked' in The Windy City - Sweet Home Chicago. For me, it was the year 1979 when I first heard this Tune and it always made me appreciate the beauty of 'my kind of town' while driving freely and easily down LAKE SHORE DRIVE with not a care in the world. It all seemed to work as it still does today. Now, that's LASTING POWER, Boys & Girls, Moms & Dads.

Therefore, it came as no surprise to me when Skip, now an active Californian reworked it to go along with our impending and really gloomy weather conditions - ie: THE BLIZZARD OF 2011 that hit Chicago with a fury during the first week of Feb. The ground hog didn't even come out to see her shadow. Yes, folks, THINGS were that bad.

THEN, all of a sudden from out of the Blue (not blues in this case), an article all about that Event appeared in The Chicago Sun-Times by Mary Houlihan that stated and was entitled:

* * * * *

New Lake Shore Drive song
By Mary Houlihan Staff Reporter/mhoulihan(at)suntimes(dot)com Feb 7, 2011 09:14AM

When all the cars got stuck last week on Lake Shore Drive, Skip Haynes’ phone started ringing.

Chicagoans will remember that back in 1971, Haynes had a hit with his song “Lake Shore Drive,” recorded by the Chicago trio, Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah. Now, his friends thought he should update it.

“I thought if I can do this in 30 minutes, I’ll do it,” said Haynes, 63. “It came out pretty fast. Apparently, it’s making people smile.”

The song, “Snowed on LSD,” is a funny lament about getting stuck in the storm. It was written in Los Angeles, where Haynes lives, a refugee from Chicago winters. But last Wednesday when he wrote the song, he says the temperature wasn’t cooperating.

“It was in the mid-40s,” Haynes said, laughing. “I could certainly get in the mood.”

He says the original song was actually written in the winter after a snowy 4 a.m. drive down Lake Shore Drive.

“But that song is a springtime song for the first time you put the top down on the convertible,” he said. “Watching the news reports last week, I saw a very different Lake Shore Drive experience.”

The song can be purchased on Haynes’ website, lakeshoredrivemusic.com.

* * * * *

Definitely a Tune you can still rock out to; no matter what the format or weather conditions. And as for making the Original LSD Song into Chicago's Anthem, well, that idea certainly is being entertained by Skip's fans both near and afar. A definite tune to download and put on your iPod.

Countdown To 60: One Week closer...

Chicago, IL USA:

Am I suppose to say that it is with a great deal of fondness that as of today -- I am one week closer to age 60? After all, it was just one week ago that I launched this huge event and have been so busy with so many other exciting things to do, that I did not keep my promise to do a blog-a-day on how I felt; what I felt and/or if I felt anything at all; as well as accomplishment. I guess that' because I have been way too busy to take the time out. But granted and rest-assured besides knowing that AGE is merely a number and not a a death sentence, it's darn nice to know that I can always turn back to my blog here and state it like it is!

Countdown To 60: Another Day forward

Chicago, IL USA

NBC, national news this morning presented an interesting story about the Fountain of Youth that Ponce de Leon, the great explorer was hell-bent on finding. A score of people were interviewed; the actual waters were tested, drank, bottled and sold from a Spring that appeared to be like any other spring you may have noticed. Was this all in a person's mind or did these waters have special powers? That would be left up to the person. It does take lots of power to keep yourself on a rigid and healthy course of action, no matter if you are approaching 60 - 30, 90 or 100. An interesting fact that I wish to share that I read just recently stated that People over 55 do not drink enough water. If taken 'this way,' then water does play a great part in your diet. Quenching as it is, it keeps your inner body functioning and functioning is what we like to do. Me in particular because I have always assumed the Root Word of 'functioning' is fun.

Countdown To 60: Another Day towards...

Chicago, IL USA:

There should probably be a WORD OF THE DAY that describes what happens to me every day, day in and day out; month in and month out till the August 9, 2012 date arrives. That may seem to be the logical and writerly method to choose. However, as we all know, there are some events that are NEVER planned for in the course of the day when you think you have 'everything' laid out according to a plan.

For instance. Today I talked a friend into coming with me to the L-train. He was going to stay in the hood and get a hair-cut. Which hair, I don't know, but that was his plan. He did accompany me and while waiting on the platform, a buddy of his that he had not seen in probably 8months called him over and repaid him the $20 that he borrowed. He had never thought he'd see that money again. I hadn't either. That certainly was nice. And, it restored him back to what's known as the common courtesies of life. Approaching 60, the tendency is to think of the common courtesies that were granted to you. This definitely was one that set the day in motion for not only my friend, but gave this Blog an angle in which to approach the weekend.

February 12, 2011 is also the 202nd Birthday of Illinois' Favorite Son, Abraham Lincoln and my favorite president. Back in Abe's Day, living a long life was not achievable as the average age was 48 back in Civil War Times. Now, if that doesn't make a person appreciative, I don't know then what does - or will.

Koopersmith's Countdown To 60: February 11, 2011

Chicago, IL USA:

Many of us do not appreciate the here and now. We don't appreciate that so many other people across the world, for hundreds of years -- or even the last 50 years since we seem to have a better grasp of The Present -- know what it is like to do without. Times were much rougher when we did not have grocery stores; doctors who knew the latest in medical advancements or fine or even mediocre restaurants to eat in. Those are considered luxuries these days. Then to add more thought and fuel to this evaluation, there are a certain number of people in the demographics of the world population that will NOT live to see 60 years old. A shame, of course, this is the Law of Nature and Survival of the Fittest taking center stage.

2000 years ago the average age was 33. Now, 2011 years later, living to 100 is a possibility. But how you live that life - your life is what it is all about. Therefore, for those of you who are active in this (mine or your):

COUNTDOWN TO 60™

It's quite prudent to feel that: Sixty is the New 30

and for the most obvious of reasons that make us all chat and chatter about it.

KOOPERSMITH's COUNTDOWN TO 60! Day: 544: February 10, 2011

Chicago, IL USA:

Segment #2 for Thursday, February 10, 2011
There’s nothing intangible about a (c)lump or sum(mary) of 545 Days and that’s exactly what I have to play with till I turn 60.

Part of this lengthy Study is that a dear friend of mine turned 60. Heck, he just turned 61 a few days ago and I’m ‘using him’ as all men should be used, to see how the Aging Process works and if there are Ways, Methods and Commonalities I can do to prepare for my 7TH Decade which will be arriving in 544 more Days. Yesterday, as you know, marked the 1.5 year Milestone before I turn 60 as well as many others who were born on Saturday, August 9, 1952. Days should be enjoyed for what they are, but anticipatory events can be utilized to the fullest as I plan to as I explore MORE about the Aging Process and how I plan to overcome it.

OVERCOMING THOSE ODDS:

Last night at supper, for instance, I explained to a friend (who is only 40) about COUNTDOWN TO 60™. Not only did he seem somewhat unconcerned and skeptically aloof since he is only 2/3 of my age, but his big comment which pleased me was:

“Not only do you not smoke or drink, Adrienne, but you don’t dye your hair, do you?”

I found this most amusing, as this was a guy/man who had hair dye in mind as the process of aging continues on, then pointed out that he had more than his fair-share of grays (although I could spot none). And, of course, commentary as this falls into my Beauty Section on how to best care for yourself while ‘still on this granite Planet that we call Earth and Home.’

CHANGING THE TOPIC: In an email from my Mother, she had commented that Oprah’s guest was Erica Cain of ALL MY CHILDREN, soap opera fame and her slew of husbands throughout the years. Mom stated that she did not recognize some of these actors – they had not ‘aged’ well. I then wrote to her saying as I am a staunch advocate of FACEBOOK: That's also 1 of the funny things about FACEBOOK. Some of my newly-found OLD friends from as long as 53 years ago are people I would never recognize at a class reunion, even with a Name Tag.

We all age. It merely depends on how and/or if you take are of yourself. That's why my COUNTDOWN TO 60 is so important to keep People looking and feeing their best...

That was a long time ago – decades and found within that last century and millennium that we all pulled ourselves from about 10 years ago, but now, it’s even more momentous not only for the ones we’ve affected (on this trip called LIFE), but for ourselves because TODAY marks a Great Anniversary, one of the most unique in Humanity.

In 1.5 years from today, some of us (as myself) will be 60 (sixty) years old – young. And, I for one – Leo-line in nature as I am, am looking with wide-eyed exuberance forward to that Date in passing Time. Too bad it will only be here for 24 hours – 8 of which I will probably sleep away.

Not that I am going to discount the next year and a half and wait with abetted breath, anxious for that decade to turn as I and many other Leos enter our 7TH decade, but for the time till then, I will set things in order while also setting more Activities in motion via: Physical – Mental – Spiritual and Creative Endeavors. Today, that all begins with the unveiling of:

Koopersmith’s Kountdown to 60™

Back on July 11, 1994, I kicked off one of that century’s greatest Holidates called: 2000 DAYS BEFORE 2000 ©1993. Its premise was to do one new thing/task/activity a day so that by December 31, 1999, you could say you accomplished/did ‘2000 THINGS BEFORE 2000.’ It was a procrastinator’s charm, as the HOLIDATE got people mobilized to do things they ordinarily would not do. The media went wild with the Event, as it was universal in nature, as most of my Holidates are. With my Kountdown to 60™, that premise is in place, but its focus is more on ME and my intents and intentions, since no one knows me better than I do, having lived with me for this entire spell.

By our 50s, most American Women are pretty much set in our ways. But most American Women are individualistic. There are those who choose The Family Route; those that have remained single and those that are now divorced. Never been married, other NEVERS in my life that have gotten me to this point are quite as interesting as:

I have never smoked; drank, did drugs drove a car since 1978 (being one of the greenest people on the planet); never got pregnant; never was arrested, although I’ve been called ‘arresting’ in my looks.

THE LAW OF NEVERS® is what separates me from most others – the celebs who hide behind facades that only weaken their inner strengths. The Individuality I possess of which I am extremely proud is what separates me from the hordes of others; whereby so many others – namely trillions upon trillions of people since Time began who have been swayed by the Mobs that surround them and peer pressure that find it hard to stand on their own. That is probably the most attractive thing about a person – whether it is a man or woman: The ability to confront and be your Self and the best Self you can be.

Integrity and standing for principles more important have always been consistently paramount in my life. Knowing I have done a great thing for myself, by saying NO to the temptations that surround us, in an economy that is lackluster and recessionary, if not downright depressionary, I have many great qualities, ideas and concepts to share, including my latest Creative and Humanitarian Project – 7 books and 7 movie scripts designed to ELIMINATE RACISM, called:

&

via my blog, KOOPERSMITHin®, Twitter and Facebook Accounts, every Day I will be sharing what it is like to be approaching 60, without ever giving it a single thought to have plastic surgery; have some body part nipped and tucked and/or finding comfort and/or escape in a bottle of booze. This is My story and Account of what Life has given me and via the Selections I have chosen to have GROWN UP KOOPERSMITH and to keep growing as ASK: ADRIENNE SIOUX KOOPERSMITH.

2-1.5 Men can carry on without Charlie. They reel-ly can.

As found on my FACEBOOK PAGE:

ADVICE FROM ASK: I personally would like 2 C 2-1/2 MEN continue without Charlie(Sheen) in it 4 the time he is in 'so-called Rehab.' The Stars in the Program are terrific in their own right. Alan, Jake, The Mother, The Maid & Rose can carry on without him - and his absence may sober up alot others who really need it...who don't even have the star power he has.

Consider the suggestion. Losing is winning sometimes.

ASK: Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith launches COUNTDOWN TO 60 ©2011 on February 9, 2011.

HOW ONE BABY BOOMER AGES GRACEFULLY

For those born on Saturday, August 9, 1952 – February 9, 2011 marks a very important and momentous growing point in our Lives. It’s the COUNTDOWN TO 60 – in exactly 1.5 years’ time. How are you going to spend that Wedge? As the Creator of 2000 DAYS BEFORE 2000 ©1993 and 2000 DAYS AFTER 2000 ©1997, I plan on wrapping-up this Period in order to jumpstart into my 7TH Decade in remarkable Ways every Day.

This Project which will begin on Wednesday, February 9TH at 4:45 AM – the Time I was born and it should be televised – therefore, it could become a very educational as well as entertaining REALITY TV Program explaining how to a BabyBoomer is achieving her Goals as well as contributing to the Literary Pool of Online and enlightening Writings.

When I was 54, a Las Vegas, Nevada Magazine spotlighted me in saying that ‘54 is the new 34.’ Let’s see what the next Year and a Half has to offer. I join all those others born AFTER August 9TH, 1952 to jump on board and begin the Journey of their Lifetime – and/or whatever else is left of it! Contact me for interviews at:

Pay-A-Compliment or SuperBowl? It's 1 or the other according to A.S. Koopersmith

Chicago, IL USA:

Pay-A-Compliment Day (C)1994 is not for the faint of heart. U have to give it some thought. U have to say something sincere. And you only have 1 day or 24 hours in which to do it. Therefore, with the SuperBowl starting in just a few minutes, start your complimenting now as you know that as soon as the Steelers start running down the field, you'll totally forget compliments of ANY sort and kind.

"Who's signing the next TOY STORY 4?" The Question of the Year by ASK/Chicago

Chicago, IL

If it's good enuf for FACEBOOK, it's good enuf for KOOPERSMITHin:

Dear Ms. Nagle: Who in the 'Movie Industry' is currently interested in scripts that deal with TOYS & Animation. I have a 7 part book/movie 'Franchise' with the potential as great as TOY STORY 3 - have beat out 3,164 others in a Hollywood Contest and had a gal rep the project at Sundance. Now's the time to 'work' the project thru the System and I need your and/or any other professional's expertise in helping me to place The Sequel/Series.

Thank you so much, Ms. Nagle.

Cheers, ASK: Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith

POSTING #2:

Regardless of The Blizzard of 2011 that is striking Chicagoland, USA now, my top Eventological Holidates for February include but are not limited to: PAC Day - Pay A Compliment, VP Day and PAL-entine's Day, in lieu of those of you who do not get into the sheer commerciality of an over-chocolated Valentine's Day, bittersweet as the day has become since couples seem to be over-rated these days.
