Dear Subaru Executive Board (as listed above):

You are airing a Commercial that rubs me the wrong way.  It deals with a young boy in his toy car near his Dad’s Subaru, parked in their Driveway . All of a sudden it pans to the ‘Son’ driving the family car; he cannot see over the wheel and he’s in a variety of scenes in and around town.  As a person who was formerly in Advertising with a Pension to watch the latest Commercials, lately there have been a few Cases across the USA, where very young Kids have gotten into their family’s vehicle and merely DROVE off.
#1:  We both know how impressionable children are.
#2:  We both know that if their parents are NOT in the TV room, the Kids are going to believe that it is OK to take their Dad’s Subaru out for a ‘Spin.’

This, I would guess, is a Spin-Off of the TV Commercial (aired earlier this year)  where the Father is giving the Keys to his Daughter.  She is a little gal and then morphs into a lovely young Lady getting ready to go away to school.  Yours was much bolder and immediately gave the Impression to me that some  innocent Kid (between 4-14) could decide to take the Family Car out on a Joy Ride where he or anyone could get HURT or worse yet: Killed.

I realize your AIM is to LURE AND IMPLANT  into the Minds of  the Younger Generation to  buy your CARS, but let the Kids grow up and be a Kid before keys are shoved into their Hands.  The Life you save could be someone that you know, love and care about.

For what it’s worth…it’s just not worth taking THAT chance.

Sincerely,
ASK: Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith

Today while I watched CBS Chicago, I was happy to see that ANOTHER Subaru of America, Inc. Commercial appeared. Now, since I am not an Insider, I don't know if this is Part of a Rotation, but I was happy to see that the Commercial I complained about had been removed.  Maybe somebody does read my Posts after all...

Animating: iN THE COMPANY OF ANTS: The Film that eliminates Racism.

ASK/Chicago ‘asks’ 2 Pertinent Questions:

1) Are you looking to produce any Animated Movies?

2)  Do you know of anyone you looking to produce Animated Movies? Animation equates to TOYS as you very well know and are extremely marketable and commercial.

The Reason I ‘ask’ is that:

I have an award-winning Spec(ial) Script that beat out 3,164 in The Scriptapalooza International Screenplay Competition (based in Hollywood) and placed as a Quarterfinalist Winner in July of 2010. Said Story was only the Third Script I had ever written in my entire Life, having taught myself The ART in order to ‘compete.’ Moreover, only Movie Industry Professionals are used in this Contest to read the Submissions received from across the World. Therefore, I feel this Entry warranted a great Deal of Merit.

Since that pivotal Date, iN THE COMPANY OF ANTS ©2009 has been rewritten as 2 Movie Scripts and 2 Books. Now ‘THE COLONY’ needs an Angel Investor and its 'Big Break."

Its three (3) Topics of Concern are immensely timely, humanitarian and focus on the:

- Elimination of Racism;

- Dispelling the Mixed Signals & Ironies We receive every Day; &

- Getting to the Heart of what really matter.

The Characters are highly brandable as they are all TOYS taken from my Private TOY Collection that turned 60 years old as of Friday, August 9TH (of 2013).

As Mellody Hobson, Chairman of the Board for DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. stated in a note to me dated March 14, 2013 upon receiving my Press Kit:

You are quite the Creative Genius.”

Therefore, Question #3 is: Any Interest or Guidance?

Winning an Award from top Industrial Movers & Shakers based on the most Humanitarian Subject Matter in our Mists (Racism) and receiving a Compliment from a leading Executive in the Animation Industry sets the Stage for the next Phase of:

Focus Night @ The Movies at Highland Park High School. Where Camera/Lights/Action + Talent meet.

Linda Frothingham of ChicagoHollywood.com & I attended Debut of FOCUS NIGHT AT THE MOVIES at the Highland Park High School Auditorium in HP, Illinois (where many movies have been scored the last 30 years). Hosted by Burt Chaikin & Jack Shulruff with Joe Bucolo as Faculty Coordinator, 19 film clips were aired via the assistance of the Fine Arts Department.

Alan Loeb (himself – “the L.A. Times called Loeb "Screenwriting's equivalent of the 'It Boy'") flew in for the occasion and encouraged what the students called: ‘Imagine The Possibilities.’ Alan had previously attended HPHS – now reappearing there as ‘An Honorary Alum.’ Because of his work load, he could not appear there – live and on-stage, but that was all taken care of. Via the wonders of ‘taping’ before-hand, well-known Producer/Director, Shawn Levy gave the future filmmakers more words of encouragement to pursue your passions with an added treat and endorsement made by Hugh Jackman, who is always looking for his next role. The School’s Symphony Orchestra with Stephen Hobson (as Director) played selections of major motion pictures as the crowd was seated.

Jimmy Fishbein, the Owner of Lake Shore Photography, Inc. set up his studio in the lobby as people were beginning to enter the Auditorium for the Presentation. He has been serving Chicago and the surrounding suburbs for over a decade now. For free, he generously took the photos of 100s of attendees...for a feel of what it is like to be 'on the red carpet'- making it and immortalizing it as a most memorable experience. Those photos will be online in several days at www.LshorePhoto.com.

It was really a spectacular evening as nearly 1000 people (per my estimates) attended the event. Although I enjoyed and found something entertaining ‘in all the films,’ my favorite was called AMONG THE STARS, created by Rachel Sacks, Burton Chaikin & Jacob Humerick and starring Alex Rush & Jack Shulruff. If a film moves you to tears, you know it has something going for it and a real (ie: ‘reel’) message to offer. Thank goodness for the invention of the Kleenex. More should be sold at movie concessions if you ‘ask’ me.

And yes, these FOCUS NIGHT AT THE MOVIES will become Regular Events in the years ahead at Highland Park High…again connecting Chicago to Hollywood.

SKiN ©2009: The Script, The Book & The Odyssey: The May 13, 2009 Segment

Chicago, IL USA

After reading the Last Chapter of SKiN (that I was using to generate Reaction and Interest), a Friend asked me if I had read:

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

As a Kid growing up, I somehow missed reading 'Alice' (altough I heard, danced and really liked Gracey Slick's White Rabbit Audio Rendition in the 1960s, a Take-Off of the Book). As I recall, the Text was required reading in many School Districts. Since I 'take all Conversations' as hidden Messages for Forward (and 'For Word') Movement and because the Suggestion came from Someone 'in the know,' I decided to take time-out and read the Classic. Today I completed it!

I had found an exquisitely illustrated Version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Scott McKowen of Punch & Judy, Inc. done in Scratchboard (an Engraving Medium) of 'The Story' at my Public Library that was published in 2005 by Sterling Publishers Co., Inc., in New York City, a Subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, The Booksellers. The updated Volume would have made Lewis himself smile indeed.

After reading (only the first 30 pages), I found Lewis Carroll's Message was uncanny, if not rather spooky, as his Composition of 144 years ago (having been released in 1865 - the year the Civil War ended) reflected many of the Issues Alice faced while she explored another Dimension - known as Wonderland, that my Characters experienced in their Travels through SKiN.

We all realize that Imagination is a terrible Thing to waste, yet most of the Imagination 'out there' never sees the Light of Day or the Rewards of a Paycheck. Reading a Book that carries you away to another World is an enjoyable Escapade. What made me think outside The Covers of The Books, besides the obvious Similarities to SKiN (of 2009) compared to Alice in Wonderland (of 1865) was how The Script was written for the Benefit of Lewi's Friend, Alice...so she would find Enjoyment in the Story that featured her as the Leading Star.

Cross-Over Potential (which is popular in Music) can also carry over throughout The Decades and Centuries in Fine Literature, as we have seen and read here.

Beyond The Plot of The Story, is the Fact that Lewis Carroll cared enough for someone to write a Story. What an Honor & Tribute. Beyond that 'Storyline' in and of itself is that this Story has Lasting Power that has carried it on beyond the 1900 and 2000 Year Marks to reap Entertainment and Enjoyment on to Future Generations. Now, that is indeed the Essence of Great Literature.

Just maybe while I am writing up the Cliff Note Version of SKiN, I will combine Wonderland with SKiN's Secret Worlds to keep the Imagination and Spirit alive.

In tomorrow's Excerpts of SKiN, the Theme is to list The Main Similarities between these 2 Writings.

For still more SKiNsights (SKiN + Insights = SKiNsights) into this Writing, please check back Tomorrow.
