Koopersmith announces: SKiN New Status

Chicago, IL USA: It is with much happiness (now that we wrap up the First Half of the Year, 2009) that I can now tell you that SKiN the Novella that I wrote in 147 Days beginning in late January, 2009 is now fully copyrighted and available for purchase...only through ME via this Blog-site.

Its full Title is:

SKiN
How 10 Beloved Plush Toys Redefine Race (C)2009

is a 56,000+ Explanation on how We are all the same and that is what binds us instead of separates us, as seen through the Eyes of 10 fabulous Toys, whimsical, smart and cool Critters that just happen to be in my Toy Box, as I have been collecting Toys since I was born. This indeed was a Project that was not only well-crafted, timely and creative, but will act as a Barrier Breaker in the Decades to come, much like:

Alice In Wonderland
The Wizard of Oz
Coreline
Gulliver's Travels
Forrest Gump
The Phantom Tollbooth

Over 50 years of Observations, Insights and Writing Skills & Techniques are used in this Text as well as Photographs I have taken of THE TOYS in action. Its current Price of $60 (for US Residents; $85 for those abroad) includes 1 year of Monthly Updates as it will soon be turned into a Movie.

The 'Race' is on...

Ruthie Madoff, you can come live with me...

Chicago, IL USA: In an eNote I sent to one of my Girlfriends, I stated:

You may have something there, We could befriend RUTHIE -- and invite her here -- that would cause a Stir and definitely I would make news...after all, she might be an INNOCENT By-Stander -- look at all the Women who get rooked by deceitful Men, present company included. That Way I could get News, Exposure & Paparzzi Infiltration and no telling what Producer & Director would want my Book. After all, it takes a lot to survive in this world, even if cut-throats are not after you.

Do you think her 2 shana Sons would want their Mom (the one who brought them into this dog-eat-dog world) to be out on the Streets of New York? I think not! She's too petite of a Woman to be hanging with the homeless and street savvy musketeers - and Central Park does not have indoor plumbing.

And, she does have $2.5 million. That Amount will not go far in NYC, but I can teach her a thing or 2 about being frugal and cheap. It could last the rest of her lifetime, if she learned not to 'indulge and splurge.' It may be miles and states away from her beloved Bernie and an Occasional Visit, but she has to pick up the pieces now...as the World's Most Scorned Woman.

The Way I see The Situation: It's either my Apartment on the lovely North Side of Chicago -- Obamaland, USA or Joisey - New Jersey and from what I hear they don't want her there either!

Late at night when she is thinking of the $1900 Dinners she'd be dining on, instead, she can tell me Stuff and I can write her Book for her and make more $$ yet. Oprah, here We come. She may be an innocent Victim -- We may never know until we grill her like Bernie grilled all those others!

I better start dusting...in anticipation of Ruthie's Arrival!

PS:

Ruthie, if you are reading this, email me at:

askoopersmith(at)hotmail(dot)com

and we will make the Proper Arrangements for you to train it to Chicago from Central to Union Station.

Michael is dead...

rest in peace.

Somebody who made us dance and sing...is no longer with us.

A hot summer day when you just assume celebrities are dancing, singing and acting their afternoons away...when one dies away...leaving a Planet to mourn a talent that cannot be replaced.

Rest in Peace, Michael Jackson. We will miss you...

AS Koopersmith Update: 2300 Mile Milestone biked in only 13 Months...How this 56 year old stays fit as a fiddle.

Chicago, IL USA:

Considering the potholes, wind, rain and stormy weather, I just surpassed 2300 miles on my Bike today -- while biking in temperatures in the high 90s, over streets that are gutted with potholes and with car, truck and taxi drivers on cell phones, eating burgers and constantly being preoccupied by what they should not be doing: Driving behind the wheel.

The Benefits of Biking are tremendous as in exercising, cutting down on my carbon footprint and thereby saving the planet; conserving money on public transportation that does not necessarily mean I will get to my destination any earlier than WHEN I bike and getting a real cardio-vascular workout which are the 4 main reasons why I bike on a daily basis.

Now, what's your excuse?

Faux Fur Friday #25 and Flooding

Chicago, IL USA

There's always a damper when Chicago floods out and that's what exactly happened today as Chicago experienced one of the worst spring stories ever to hit; downing trees, flooding towns in the area and viaducts. However HOLIDATES still exist as this is the 25TH Occasion of Faux Fur Fridays, and the last one for Spring of 2009.

From The Creator of NATIONAL SPLURGE DAY ©1994...Celebrating 16 Years. How the Urge to Splurge works in a Recessionary Depression.

Chicago, IL USA:

It is hard to believe that National Splurge Day ©1994, one of my top 300 HOLIDATES TO CELEBRATE* is now in its 16TH year. However, Life has drastically and rapidly changed the last Decade lot alone the last year in which splurging is not a reality for many Folks and People anymore. Downsizing and cuttin back is more like it and that, to many is a terrifically hard thing to do.

"But how do you splurge when you can't pay the rent or you have to take the Kids out of private schools, Adrienne?" is what I often hear from Parents I speak to.

It's a matter of setting your priorities in order is what I initially tell them. Even in times of cut-backs, a vast array of FUN things can be done that cost hardly if any money...that rely mostly on being together with the ones you love. Splurging may be EXTRAS of this and EXTRAS of that...but in the long run and at the end, those material items do not add up to friendships and fond memories.

For this 'out of the ordinary' NATIONAL SPLURGE DAY ©1994, take 30 minutes to think of things you can do that don't cost alot but the returns are insurmountable.

Also, by all means, you can contact me at:

askoopersmith(at)hotmail(dot)com

to let me know how you splurged this year. Your Entry will be placed in a Pool to win a $1000 gift certificate for next year's NATIONAL SPLURGE DAY - #17.

Biking Phenomenas: Flat Tires on Bikes are no Fun...

even if you've achieved 2200 miles on your Bike...in a little bit over a Year.

Such as it was on Monday, June 15, 2009 at around 10:15 AM near the Walgreens on Chicago Avenue in Evanston. However, getting there to that point was a complete challenge because the day before my tire became its flattest, on the warmest day of the year...so far...to date...and that is no FUN, even for the Likes of Lance Armstrong and other biking enthusiasts...

That story will be told later...even tho it's better forgotten.

As they often ask: How many miles can you get on the average bike without IT going flat? That depends on how hard and fast you ride...potholes and glass aside!

24 Faux Fur Fridays and the Beat goes on...for SHE's GOT THE LOOK.

Chicago, IL USA:

Last night for those of you watching cable television (Channel 221 in Chicagoland), you may have caught the Second Premier of SHE's GOT THE LOOK. Out of a Cattle Call of approximtely 400 Women from Chicago, I placed within the Top 20 at which time, I got the opportunity to 'present myself' to the 3 Judges, namely:

Robert Verdi
Sean Patterson
Beverly Johnson

all New York City Fashion & Beauty Industrial Greats. Upon sizing me up, Robert exclaimed:

"I have never seen so much hair on one person."

Truer words were never spoken.

In that Crowd of Hopefuls dressed to the Nines was yours truly clad in a sizzling faux fur coat that Judge/Celebrity Stylist ROBERT VERDI really liked.

Hair - Yes.
Coat - Yes.

He liked my Coat so much that he jumped off stage, and seeing the excitement in his face and knowing I was a FUN sort of gal, I took the Coat off, knowing he was way too big to even fit into it! After all, Guys just like to have fun.

At which point I slipped out of my coat - let him try it on and then tossed my full, auburn waist length Mane over his head. The camera man was all there to SEIZE THE KODAK MOMENT -- take photos and this 'Show' was aired -- no words - just FUN, FAUX FUR & FEMME FATALE-ing to the max.

From this brief Cinematic Encounter/Experience, arose my FAUX FUR FRIDAYS - which now is celebrating its 24TH Week, having begun on Friday, January 2, 2009 as well as my latest Novella:

SKiN
How 10 Beloved Plush Toys Redefine Race

The older you get the more you see how things are linked and linked up. SHE's GOT THE LOOK for Season #2 is looking for models over 35 years old. Finally, it's great to know that older Women are being appreciated for who they are and who they have developed into. This is one Chance to prove that Seniority is a full-time occupation.

It is truely amazing how somehow unrelated Events segue into other Challenges and Opportunities. This may just be one of those...

Time will tell.

Koopersmith Launches Bild-A-Book: Depression Proof Publishing @ Its Finest.

Chicago, IL USA:

Without even mentioning 'The Competition' in the Publishing Field as well as your own Competition in the playing and reading field(s) regardless of the underlying Fact that when the Economy is in a Recession, Publishing is in a Depression, there’s still a number of courageous People who still believe in the Written Word and plan to continue seeking a Writing Career – as an Author/Authority although Times are tough and the Tough may not be able to weasel enough of a paycheck to even cover a month’s meal.

No matter what the Economy is like a good book (even sometimes a mediocre Read) is enough to pass the time and take you into another, more satisfying World.

However, when PUSH comes to SHOVE, an innovative if not mad-cap way to get something published is to think far-out of The Proverbial Box. In this case, far beyond the Cover of the Book – any Book for that matter – as a Book can be written with a Week or less…Material is easy to come by; dream up and/or acquire, especially if you collaborate with 1 or more creative Types who can throw their fair share into the Creative Kettle.

After consulting with many Authors during the BEA and the Chicago Tribune's Printers Row Weekend, it was clear to see that ISBN Numbers are a waste of money. That $250 can be put to better use in promotion is what 3/4 of the Writers I spoke with stated. Although it's been said that it takes a Dollar to make a Dollar, a Dollar saved is a Dollar earned AND new industrious ways can be designed to meet the new Challenge that individual Authors are facing.

Another Concern the Authors I spoke to mentioned was the length of time (anywhere from 12-18 months) for a Publisher to get a new Book out. With so many Editors now out of work, there is no reason why they cannot man a full-staff 24/7 in order to get out a new Book in at least 3 months. This was a genuine concern. Enter: Self-Publishing when doing it yourself means you can take all the Credit...and/or all The Blame.

You certainly should not blame yourself for lack of knowledge when it comes to publishing. Even 30 minutes a day after 30 days will yield enough copy that can in a few short months produce a Book.

Therefore, deciding to see how to best promote my latest Literary Project without much sweat, toil and especially money and keeping the above Opinions in the forefront of my Mind, I conceptualized a new Format called:

BILD-A-BOOK ®

that basically rests with the Undertakings of Basic Scrapbooking (that is extremely popular now) and the Idea that since it takes Publishers 12-18 months to produce a Book, although the Words can be written in the Course of a Week – if Pictures/Illustrations or Photography is to be used, it will take a bit time longer to MAKE THE MONEY and TAKE THE TIME to design a well-presented Final Product that will not only turn Pages, but Heads as well.

The Premises and Workings of BILD-A-BOOK ® are such that:

#1: Your Text is written; proofread and Copyright Papers have been filed and received via the Registrar in Washington, DC.

#2: You begin selling your Text on your Blog (if you do not have a Website – as some are tremendously hard to maintain) in Sections.

#3: You perform all the major league Public Relations that goes along with any variety of Promotions. A Background of 30 years of PR/Advertising/Marketing is on my Resume, but Publicizing has never been easier. Just pick up a few library books on the Topic and use simple Email Techniques.

#4: The above 3 Steps are all done on a Shoe-string Budget, per se. Because after all, since you are self-publishing and eliminating the middle-man, you are making all the Money. The initial Expenses have to be made – but this can all be accomplished with $100 (or less) that can be worked and reworked till your Books (that will be more like a Scrapbook) begin to sell.

Bild-A-Book is spelled without the vowel 'u' in Build because my Philosophy is: If a Letter is silent, then it shouldn't even be (bothered) to be written. Life's too short to add in Silent Letters. Why upset a Person trying to learn English as a Second Language or even a Small Child in Grade School trying to learn 'The Languge.' Easy is best; Fun and allows for more Time to indulge in other Past-Times (if there are any besides Reading, that is!).

MORE AT THE PROMOTIONAL LEVEL: Add in Street Fairs and Holiday Bazaars (as the Holiday Season kicks in) in which Groups of People can collaborate and buy a Booth – for additional exposure to sell your Book - ScrapBook. Having others Blog about your Work is helpful as well as constantly getting Testimonials from People. After all Word-of-Mouth and Word-of-Mouse is where it’s at….although it’s MOST often happening between the Pages you have just written or scored.

#5: The last Angle of BILD-A-BOOK is that you retain and maintain an Audience – this Audience can most likely ‘buy’ into The Concept – for a year – thereby you send your Customer a 2 Chapters monthly with the Artwork to keep the momentum moving at a brief pace. An Updated Newsletter on progress is also a nice added touch since the Life of an Author is an extremely interesting one that is often followed for decades on end.

My BILD-A-BOOK Operation is such that the entire ScrapBook is sent out via a 3-ringed Notebook; therefore Pictures, Illustrations and a wide variety of Inserts can be added as I produce them. Since I am deemed as:

‘America’s Premier Eventologist’ by Insight Magazine in Washington, DC in August, 1997
&
‘The Premier Eventologist in The History of The World’ by The Chicago Trubune in Chicago, IL in January, 2001

There are always sections that have to be added for the newer HOLIDATES that I consistently invent and create on a regular basis, that compliments by Writing. This makes BILD-A-BOOK exciting as well as very useful for School Teachers, Librarians, Professors and Academicians who are scouring The Scene and studying its Theories for course-work, lectures, classes, etc.

Oh, yes, it’s a really rough Economy ‘out there,’ but Reading will always remain popular and amongst the best and finest Past-Times ever invented. How you keep up with ‘The Times’ in creative and do-able ways is (always found) in THE BOOK.

Faux Fur Friday...and when The Anniversaries just don't stop.

Chicago, IL USA:

How quickly they sneak up on us. Another FAUX FUR FRIDAY...and although Fur is not really the chosen SKiN to wear as the Temperatures warm up around Chicagoland and other Parts of 'The Zone,' the general idea is to wear what's Greenest for The Environment. Happening weekly since January 2, June 5TH marks the 23RD Weekly Celebration of the Holidate.

It also marks the Birthdays of several Creatures that appeared in The Koopersmith Household while 'Growing Up, Koopersmith' -- during the Summers of the 1960s...when life was much different than it is, by far, today, for those who lived through those Times. Those Pets were Sam & Ham, my Brother Joe's Two Turtles. On June 6TH, my Mom saw to it that I got a Cat for a pre-August Birthday Present. In came THA HIN a gorgeous Seal Point, Blue-Eyed Siamese Cat (who sounded like a newborn baby when he started 'talking') who initially lived (as a smaller Cat) in Florida. Needless to say, Thy's First Winter in the barren, bleak confines of Mid-State Illinois were anything but balmy. He got lost in a blizzard, probably trying to find the warmest route out of town.

It's truly amazing how Animals affect our Lives. And even Today at the ripe age of 56, they are Characters that I use in my Writings, of which the Primary One is:

SKiN
How 10 Beloved Plush Toys Redefine Race ©2009

that is nearly completed.

Another Momumental Date coming up in June (even as a short month - on the 9TH) is the 30TH Year Anniversary of the Death of Louis Koopersmith who wasn't the Best of Fathers (or even batting in the Top 1,000,000) but he certainly enjoyed being Mayor of Mendota, IL where We were all born and raised. We all dance, drum, hum or strum along to the beat of our own dancers, drummers, hummers or strummers.

After a certain point in time, every happening seems to have a bearing upon something else. Why should Today be any different!

ASK/Chicago: The Diary of a Peddle-Pusher.

Chicago, IL USA:

The 2100 Mile Mark was achieved this Morning, June 4, 2009 according to this Peddle-Pusher in my Account called:

The Diary of a Peddle-Pusher ©2009

that I just thought up at 1:07 PM on Thursday, June 4, 2009. Somewhere near the Intersection of Ridge & Dempster in Evanston this occurred -- the day was chilly but sunny. On May 25TH, I had just made the 2000 mark so this was a terrific Mark to make....

once again reassuring others that IF I can bike -- so can you, not only for yourself and health, but for the Environment. One more Biker equates to 1 less auto polluting our Planet.

Earth 2100. How effective TV saves a Planet (One Citizen at a Time).

As posted on ABCnews.com Comment (#745) List on June 3, 2009 (6-3-9) after watching their Documentary last Evening:

The Jubilation of The New Millennium, 2000 was short-lived by the Terrorist Attack of 2001 falling and now, 9 years later, We must re-adjust and adapt to ‘Lives of Woe’ for those who became too greedy, too soon and at the expense of Others. The Economic, Mental & Physical Anguish People are now facing was all depicted in your brilliant Commentary of EARTH 2100 (aired last night on June 2, 2009). As a noted Writer here in Chicago (known as ‘America’s Premier Eventologist’ by Washington, DC’s Insight Magazine (August, 1997), I have penned a 55,000+ Manuscript (Novella in length) that will be released in mid-June called:

SKiN:

How 10 Beloved Plush Toys Redefine Race ©2009

that deals with how Life has abruptly changed since Man appeared some 100,000 years ago. Since my Birth (on Saturday, August 9, 1952), my Aim is totally GREEN-in Nature (pun intended) in getting everyone to reduce/recycle/reuse via The SKiN they are in, no matter where you are; what color you are and who you are. That’s 1 of the 44 Themes that runs throughout My Script. Readings will be conducted; Excerpts will be appearing on my Blog, Koopersmithin’ and Testimonials by other Experts will be garnered as well as Movie Directors contacted in order to make SKiN ©2009 into a Televised Series. We all must do our Part (as a Wake-Up Call) every Day in order to not only survive, but live the Best Life We can (not only for ourselves but Future Generations). This is no Dress-Rehearsal. Those are the Basic ABC’s that take Precedence.

ASK's Eventological Proclamation. Celebrating NORTON JUSTER's 80TH Birthday.

Chicago, IL USA.

Last Summer, I had the express Opportunity to be told about THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH by two friends that suggested I read it. Taking their advice, I did so and was completely taken with what a powerful book it was. Written in 1961 by Norton Juster (who later became a world-famous author), I was only 9 at the time and had no idea about its existence. However, some 47 years later, the Book is as on target as it was 'back then.' If you haven't read it...yet...it's never too late as the Topic is Timeless.

For Teachers, I highly suggest they use it in their Math Classes to get boys and girls interested in Math -- in case they already aren't. I wasn't, but if I had read 'THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH' while in grade school or even high school, I'm sure my Skills in Arithmetic would have improved significantly. If not...

As 'America's Premier Eventologist' I have proclaimed:

June 2, 2009 - June 2, 2010

as the YEAR OF NORTON JUSTER.

Thirteen (13) full Eventological Proclamations (collector items) have been sent to the leading 13 Galleries in the USA (in late December) so they, too, will know what a Contribution Mr. Juster has made to American Literature.

Copies of the ASKian Proclamation is available by emailing me directly at:
