Is your Baby racist ? Newsweek's Top Cover Story of the Week...

Chicago, IL USA:

Speaking about Racism, it's right there on the cover of Newsweek for September 14, 2009.

Grocery stores can be used as Libraries, especially since so many great magazines (of those left) can be read while waiting in the check-out line. This morning while getting my double Bagel and diet A&W Rootbeer Fixes, I saw the cover of:

Newsweek Magazine

whose title story read as: Is your Baby Racist?

Of course, I grabbed the last issue (dated 9-14-2009) and tossed it in with my groceries. I've only read half of it so far, but the Theory is that Birgitte Vittrup of the Children's Research Lab at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas ran a study to see if videos about multi-cultures had an(y) effect on young kids. You would be surprised! Not only at the Kids, but what their Parents displayed during the course and duration of the study.

The Article named:

See Baby Discriminate

taken from: See Alice run...by Po Bronson & Ashley Merryman is from their book 'Nurture Shock' -- as a copy of it was depicted at the top of the page.

Logically, the way I feel about the entire Topic: If it's not going to be racist, then it can be sexist. We just live in that kind (call it that) of Society.

The Article is well worth reading -- and from what I read so far, enlightening, but maybe NOT in the way that we would wish it to be.
