Everything you ever wanted to ask ASK about SKiN: The Book & Script. #16

Chicago, IL USA:

I spoke to Dee today as I did my volunteer work at the local shelter. She told me she had been an exotic dancer in the 1970s; was homeless and was now pulling herself together. Being from the same era, she opened up to me and our conversation heightened. A grandma of 2 darling kids living in the 'Deep South' her Daughter whose father was of German White Extract would always try to "pass herself off as White." She did not say this sarcastically, but more matter-of-factly. Her skin tone would change -- darker during the summer. "That's when she tried to blend in with Puerto Ricans," Dee stated.

My conversation of earlier this Week with Shaun about 'White Privilege' came to mind. I told Dee about Brian Harris who appeared on the Mike & Maty Talk Show circa 1997 whose

FRIENDSHIP SEES NO COLOR

Pen Pal Writer's Club made international news. She smiled and wanted more information on him, since it's People like Brian who make a world of difference.

Dee was happy where she was in the world. She came through the Storm, in tact and now able to give her experiences to her Grandkids, proud of the SKiN she is in. Many of her comments reminded me of parts of:
