ASK's comm-ANT-ary on Day #18 of: ANT APPRECIATION MONTH INTL ©2010

Thursday, August 18, 2011 is Day 18 of the Second Global Celebration of:

ANT APPRECIATION MONTH INTERNATIONAL©2010

Said HOLIDATE® is being staged for Today & the Remainder of August only because ANTS are as ANTeresting as can be, not BEE. That’s another Species, Folks.

Directly from:

Derived from yesterday’s Website is this info about Mutualism:

When you see an ANT in Nature on a Flower, what is IT doing? Let me tell you: The Flower has Glands that produce Nectar, a sweet and fortifying Beverage for the ANTS. It’s the booze – the shot that ANTS need to be energized.

The ANTS sip the Flower’s Nectar and simultaneously scare away any other Insects that plan to harm and/or prey upon that particular Flower.

“What’s in this for the ANT?” you may ask.

The Flower gives the helpful ANT Food and in return, they protect the Plant. Mutualism is the scientific name given to this relationship, where both Organisms benefit.

Mutualistic Relationships are very common in Tropical Rainforests and are quite common in many other Species and Breeds. Do you homework, Boys & Girls; Ladies & Gentlemen and think of more – there are Plenty to consider, for sure.

We get by with a little help from our friends…no matter what the Species…

Cheers,
